Sen. Ted Cruz today invited President Obama to accompany him to a golf course on the Texas-Mexico border, telling conservatives at an Americans for Prosperity summit in Dallas he thought that was the only way there is a chance in heaven that he might come to the region.
The Texas Republican and potential 2016 presidential contender also heavily criticized the presidents foreign policies and suggested that the U.S. should bomb ISIS back to the stone age.
Tonight I am officially extending an invitation for Barack Obama to come join me at the border in Texas, Cruz said. I figured the only way there is a chance in heaven that he might come: I am inviting him to a golf course.
Cruz told the audience that he is inviting Obama to join him at Lajitas Golf Resort in Big Bend, where, on the 11th hole, the pin is on the other side of the Rio Grande, so you can only go for a hole in one.
Cruz devoted much of his speech to lambasting Democratic immigration reforms and warned that it would be utterly lawless for Obama to offer amnesty without the consent of Congress. Obama is expected to take executive action on immigration sometime this fall, but it has remained unclear when or how aggressively the president would seek to change U.S. policy.

Although I agree that ISIS should be bombed back “to the Stone Age,” this is probably not the most effective language to use. It necessarily suggests the remarks of Air Force Gen. Curtis Lemay, who once said the same thing as regarding North Vietnam; and that is a chapter in our history that a very large number of Americans would prefer to forget (and certainly not emulate)...
Calls for Bombing ISIS Back to the Stone Age
TOO LATE!
Carl von Clausewitz wrote in his book ON WAR that wars are won by breaking the enemies will to fight. Clearly, if we think about it the will of the American people to fight has been broken by our enemies abroad and politicians taking political advantage of American war weariness (which for most Americans means they're tired of hearing about it). Even as vile and cruel as ISIS is, and as much as they have shown themselves to be at war with everyone not practicing Islam as they do, our president is not willing to say we're at war with them.
My opinion is that we should use airpower to even the battlefield for those already fighting ISIS. Continue to transfer arms and ammunition to the Kurds and others so that they can hunt down and exterminate these foreigners who wage an unprovoked war against the people of Iraq and Syria.
Since the “Ted Cruz isn’t a natural born citizen” meme isn’t getting much traction, concern trolls are starting to pop up lately with this argument:
“I like Ted Cruz, but he should stay in the Senate where he can do the most good. I’m concerned that he isn’t old enough and hasn’t had much executive experience.”
Watch for it.
When the invite arrives he should be pictured on the golf coarse by himself dressed to play waiting and every now and then checking his watch.
Au contraire. WWII in the Pacific was won with two bombs. Even in Europe, tens of thousands of bombers over Hitler's Germany turned the tide, as well.
I know, back to the stone age wouldn’t be very far.
Yes, I remember that, too.
Japan surrendered after two nukes. And also after the deaths of >2 million soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines. And also after the sinking of almost the entire IJN. And also after the burning of Tokyo, Nagoya, Yokohama, Osaka, and Kobe.
“Not criticizing Ted Cruz, but this could have been a great moment for him to highlight the plight of our Marine Sergeant languishing in a Mexican prison for simply making a wrong turn at the border.”
The Marine is a sad story, and it’s a travesty that so much attention has been paid to the thug M. Brown instead of him. The government needs to do a lot more to get him out of Mexico.
That said, Cruz is right to focus keenly on the immigration issue. That is an existential threat to our way of life. I’d love to see “well regulated militias” seal the southern border about now. Clearly the Feds have failed their duty to the American people.
Bombing could pretty well make it impossible for them to aggress further. Precision guided munitions can pretty well land in individual foxholes. In the desert, hiding places are hard to come by. Imagine Operation Arc Light in a desert environment...
I do think napalm should rejoin our active inventory though...along with cluster munitions. They just need to make sure the individual munitions all explode promptly.
It does seem that way. Regular FR posters recognized ISIS for what it is while they were still marching through the desert in a column and starting their genocide thing in Mosul.
I hope Ted Cruz keeps to this issue. Earlier, he seemed to be taking sides in Ukraine and Syria. That could come back to slap him in the face as events unfold. I agree that he should've highlighted the case of the US soldier in a Mexican jail.
Summary....Cruz is developing a better, more independent voice on foreign affairs. It's a good thing he's a quick study. Up to now he didn't seem to have an independent vision about the US role in the world.
Well said, thank you.
Love Ted Cruz. Most GOP are too timid to speak up. I remember during his filibuster . . . how many GOPe supported him? About Zero. He’s not perfect but he’s one of the best we’ve got right now. My Senator, Jeff Sessions, did support him . . . and is actively fighting amnesty and O on this. But he too almost stands alone.
LOL - might be the ONLY way to get 'the ONE' to the border...
He ain’t no purist and he ain’t gonna get many votes. Too unclean.

Too bad, do it anyway, full measure. What are the humanitarians going to do? Take up arms? LOL!
Dear Ted: ISIS is ALREADY LIVING IN THE STONE AGE!!!
Not if they have ground-to-air missiles, heavy weapons and APVs...
