McALLEN, Texas (AP) -- A Border Patrol agent pursuing a group of immigrants in a wooded area near the Texas-Mexico border on Friday fired several shots at an armed man who later identified himself as a militia member.
Border Patrol spokesman Omar Zamora said agents had been chasing a group of immigrants east of Brownsville Friday afternoon when an agent saw a man holding a gun near the Rio Grande. The agent fired four shots, but did not hit the man. The man then dropped his gun and identified himself as a member of a militia. Zamora said no other details were immediately available.
Cameron County Sheriff Omar Lucio, whose agency is involved in the investigation, said the incident occurred on private property and it appeared the man had permission to be there. He was not arrested, Lucio said.

The Citizen had permission to be on that property, how about the BP guy, or should trespassing be added to the assault/attempted murder charges?
a merit appointment, shirley !
Some radio comms with the Border guys wouldn’t be a bad idea, along with some type of instant visual identification - badge, patch, flash, cap, etc.
Just let the Border guys know they’re operating in such and such area this week, today, etc.
Wouldn’t do to have our people getting killed accidentally.
I thought they weren’t doing much shooting these days, I mean, at actual lawbreakers.
40% unemployment among feral blacks. Hello? State Employment Bureau?
Trayvon and Michael would not be picking watermelons, they would be stealing them

He also might have been in jail or prison.
Besides, why work when (some) minorities need only walk into the nearest welfare office and apply for EVERLASTING housing, food stamps and cash?
WHO encourages this kind of behavior? If all that "help" were unavailable, those folks WOULD find work.
At least we know some of the agents are armed, although i can’t speak to the wisdom of shooting anyone else holding a gun.
This month, the Border Patrol warned its agents about militia members after seven of them dressed in camouflage and carrying rifles appeared out of the dark and began helping to apprehend immigrants around a canal near Mission. The agents initially mistook them for a Department of Public Safety tactical team.
If true, that right there is just stupid - walking up on law enforcement in the dark, wearing camo, carrying long guns, and assisting without a) invitation or, b) advance notice. They're gonna get themselves dead, right quick. Those folks are givin' militia a bad rep.
