McALLEN, Texas (AP) -- A Border Patrol agent pursuing a group of immigrants in a wooded area near the Texas-Mexico border on Friday fired several shots at an armed man who later identified himself as a militia member.
Border Patrol spokesman Omar Zamora said agents had been chasing a group of immigrants east of Brownsville Friday afternoon when an agent saw a man holding a gun near the Rio Grande. The agent fired four shots, but did not hit the man. The man then dropped his gun and identified himself as a member of a militia. Zamora said no other details were immediately available.
Cameron County Sheriff Omar Lucio, whose agency is involved in the investigation, said the incident occurred on private property and it appeared the man had permission to be there. He was not arrested, Lucio said.

The BP should deputize the militia.

At least hand out some radios so they know where everybody is.

I thought the BP could not shoot at anyone, isn’t that how two agents went to jail a few years back?

These particular militia members were on private property with permission from the property owner. It was bound to happen sooner or later.

Might want to think about that ... This person had the permission of the property owner to be on the property.

He was wearing camo and carrying a long gun. BP prolly thought he was cartel.
Although, wearing camo and carrying a long gun ain’t uncommon in Texas. I guess standing at the border wearing camo and carrying a long gun was the unlucky combination.

I know.
If they can’t tag the good guys, how much better can they stop the bad guys that are running and hiding with a lifetime of experience of doing this sort of thing?

oh no best disarm those military style agents, how dare they shoot.
Maybe if Obama actually enforced the laws , and actually stopped telling Hispanics to come here we might not have as many problems

The Mexicans won't stop crossing the line because the
gringos HERE will hire them in a New York minute. Any Mexican worth his salt can make THREE months of
gringo wages HERE and live off of those earnings for the other NINE months south of the border.
I would GUESS that of all the Mexican farm workers (braceros) down there in California's central valley, HALF are legal and HALF are illegals.
Do you think that would be a fair guessimate?
