Reporter: "I wanted to find out why many Alabamians make the important decision to carry a concealed weapon. Over three three weeks, I logged 1,400 miles traveling from Empire to New Market, from Mobile to Dothan, from Oxford to Heflin. In the end, 17 Alabamians posed for portraits and told me why."

Don’t beat around the bush, tell me to keep it safely locked up.
he works in the woods, often times by himself, alone.
Maybe a shift, but the writing hasn't improved...
You watch too many movies....
Wow. Do they sell holsters in Alabama?
Well Georgia is pretty much a ditto of AL. We don’t leave home without it.
A couple of thoughts, this would be the first time liberals thought through something if they think this will bring readers back.
The other thought was that maybe now is a time for a good conservative newspaper but then looking at the lack of enthusiastic financial support here on FR, I don’t think I would invest the money in a conservative newspaper business.

Just sayin’ you need something that is with you at all times rather than propped up in the corner.
The VCDL just put out a nice video, “iCarry”.
The last 30 seconds would make a good TV ad.
They guy who did the story is actually a staff photographer so while they writing isn’t the very best, I still have to give him props for even getting the story out there.
It’s really hard to be a normal person at the Bham News now.
And, that's what makes America grand...you're free to choose.
In an urbanized close quarters combat situation the time it takes for you to reload a shotgun will get you killed.
They all publish only 3 times a week and share a lot of content.
The Bham News did an investigative story of a huge fraud at a health/medical clinic but stopped short of exposing the auditors.
By leaving out the auditors, it made the whole piece fall apart.
So yeah, not really very much investigating unless them trying to tie gun rights to gun violence can be considered investigating. THEY say it is, but it’s just more propaganda.
Thanks. Both of you are preparing for something you face where you live or work.
I’m prepared to deal with my our situation.
I live away from civilization. The people who show up here are either invited, or lost.
The question most people ask is ‘how did you find this place?’.
PS, I don’t doubt the validity of your information, but do you really want to tell the guy up thread who hasn’t invested in any firearms that he has to get three guns? Or an expensive weapon that can shoot several people in quick succession?
Why set the bar so high? Why not invite him to get one weapon that won’t break his pocketbook and still be a good self defense gun?
If anything seems amiss and the dog doesn’t greet me at the door it’s time to back out and call the cops.
Respectfully, I disagree.
I own weapons that are used primarily to hunt, and they are kept locked in a gunsafe.
But I also have weapons in selected spots throughout my house which may in fact be discovered by an intruder, if he had enough time to himself in the place.
But I always try to be aware of potential problems around me, whether on the street, in a store, in traffic. I am not looking FOR problems, I am looking to avoid them if possible.
I almost always have a weapon on my person, and always have one close by. If I have been gone for most of the day I definitely give the exterior of my house a once-over before I enter, and my carry weapon is with me and accessible just in the off-chance that a threat awaits me inside.
Does that sound like a movie script? Hell, I read about those real-life scenes every day in the paper.
In my case, I'd pull out the .38 I always carry in my my pocket and start blasting.
Somebody needs to tell Lakeisha that she needs a good belt when she is carrying concealed, and it will be much more comfortable.
I’m not sure Lakeisha is all that interested in concealing anything!
