This is exactly how this will play out:
The shutdown WILL occur on Oct 1. No noticeable effects for a while.
On or about October 15, Obama will pull the plug on the EBT cards and blame Republicans.
From October 15 - November 1st, increasing levels of riots will occur in major cities. The entire time, Obama and the Propaganda Corps (ABC NBC CBS CNN NYT) will blame it on the shutdown and on Republicans.
November 1st through 7th, Obama will demand Democrats get to the polls to restore government services.
Democrats will turn out in numbers never seen before on an off year.
Republicans will not take the Senate and will lose the House. Obama will keep importing Latinos at a breakneck speed from then on. There will be no threat of impeachment or limitation any more.
The coup will be complete.
Some people remark that the States administer EBT. True, but in 2013, during the government shutdown, the Feds were about ready to pull the plug on the states. Please note this letter:

I came back in September ‘70 and was discharged in SF, It was interesting. I had always loved SF. I have hated the city since I got off that plane.

Occasionally in my work, I run into true morons from texas (small t), who wear “LBJ” buttons, and I cannot stop myself from explaining to them just what a lying POS this scum sucking bastard was. Try to explain to them what Lady Bird thought of him. What our military thought of him from Joint Chiefs on down. That he was a waster, a user, a manipulator. Far more than any politician, save FDR to that date.

A civil war could develop over time but the initial move by the government will be to flatten any apparent opposition immediately.
I am also a Vietnam Veteran. I am still bitter about it. I would also suspect there are more than a few Iraq/Afghanistan veterans, who are a tad on the bitter side too.
