What's thought to be an audio recording of the shooting death of Michael Brown has reportedly surfaced. According to CNN, an unidentified man, who has since been interviewed by the FBI, is said to have managed to record the incident in which Michael Brown was shot by Officer Darren Wilson earlier this month, setting off a national firestorm.
The most notable tidbit from the short recording (and what will become subject to the most immediately scrutiny and parsing) is the existence of two distinct volleys of gunfire from Officer Darren Wilson's weapon. From CNN:
class="cnn_storypgraphtxt cnn_storypgraph3">In the recording, a quick series of shots can be heard, followed by a pause and then another quick succession of shots.
Forensic audio expert Paul Ginsberg analyzed the recording and said he detected at least 10 gunshots -- a cluster of six, followed by four.
The man who recorded the shooting was talking to someone on video chat when the sounds of gunfire erupted in the background. The Daily Mail added:
Lopa Blumenthal, the attorney for the unidentified man who recorded the alleged gunfire nearby said that she believed the audio shows, if it is authentic, that Officer Wilson had a clear 'point of contemplation' while pulling the trigger and aiming at Brown."
Also of some serious importance, should the tape's authenticity be confirmed, is the fact that ten (or, by some counts, eleven) shots were fired at Brown by Wilson.
Here is the segment as it aired on CNN with the audio recording.

So even if this tape is legit, it shows the cop had a 60% accuracy rate, even with a serious injury.
Sounds like the perv was too busy to notice a war going on outside the window.
We were not there. I THINK THE OFFICER IS JUSTIFIED DUE TO INJURIES TO OFFICER WILSON.
Adobe Audition, I use it every day at work. Just goofing around one time a few years ago, I took a recording of a single gun shot and edited it to make it sound like 50 men were firing multiple shots at each other.
Recorded at that nudie bar out by the airport.
The one next door to a gun range.
I was simply showing that the audio (if it is actually legitimate) proves nothing.
Eric Holder is almost certainly familiar with this audio expert, if not downright chummy. Greenberg is the guy who determined that the Branch Davidians started themselves on fire in Waco, based on conversations he extracted and enhanced from audio the FBI was collecting from inside the compound. That analysis played a big role in shifting blame off the feds.
Did the audeo record the single gunshot inside the Tahoe?
This really points to the determination of Brown to get to Wilson and presumably kill him. A logical person getting hit with a bullet even once would turn away and/or run for cover. Brown was driven by pure rage. For him the fight or flight response was clearly to fight.
Exactly what you hear in the Marine Corp pits!
By the end of the week, you don’t count shots, you count and look for target penetration after the WHUMP! No “WHUMP” you get “Maggie’s drawers” waived at you!
I have heard nothing about Wilson attacking or attempting to attack the other person involved. If Wilson was trying to kill one for pure hate, then why not kill them both?
Let's say they somehow prove beyond a reasonable doubt that they were Officer Wilson's shots.
After being assaulted by Brown there was a struggle for his weapon which was turned on him and a shot fired in the vehicle almost striking him. Officer Wilson regains his weapon and fires 6 rounds at the fleeing Brown, missing him. Those shots being absolutely justified; fleeing, dangerous felon.
Brown then turns and charges the officer...the final 4 shots.
That's just one scenario.
..............You fire six shots at a guy charging you. You think that should be enough. He keeps coming. You unload four more rounds.................
Remember that the officer was in extreme pain from having his eye socket broken, and only one eye working when he was shooting, so perhaps he thought that he missed his target, hitting the right arm, to his left, and corrected his aim, and hit him in the head.
Case closed, Holder go home and rot in hell!
I am so tired of hearing about these emotional to their radical pundits on CNN spew this because they want a specific outcome. Lie and spin, no problem. Why? They hate guns anyway. They don’t want to live with guns in our society. They want only the federals to have guns. And, we all know what that means. Just follow the liberals’ logic. It takes years for them to chip away at our freedoms.
They have no understanding of why officers react to different potential dangerous situations or any citizen. As an excuse, they use what they see or hear; i.e.. rapid or repeated gun shots and then a person is labeled as whacked, so they judge them as being guilty.
They are after this officer, not to find the truth. They want to get the mileage out of excessive force (as they believe) and more people to be against gun violence. They don’t care about blacks being killed. Look at the shootings in Chicago and Oakland. If someone will not stop, who has a right to say just fire one shot. Idiotic. ( It’s like a lot those comments on yahoo. Officer Wilson should have shot once or used spray to Brown’s eyes. Get a life to those people)
Totally bogus for them to tie this to the Brown shooting, absolutely no way to tie it. I was thinking random recording of domestic violence, but yeah, could be a birthday celebration! Or simply a manufactured recording to muddy the waters.
> The software that will do everything you mentioned is called “Cool Edit” (It may have a new name now that Adobe has bought it)
Adobe Audition, I use it every day at work. Just goofing around one time a few years ago, I took a recording of a single gun shot and edited it to make it sound like 50 men were firing multiple shots at each other.
My relative has recording software that goes far beyond those programs. Put it this way he could go in and take out everyone of the gunshots, take a sample of the background noise and lay it in its place and you would never have heard any of the gunshots. Conversely he could take a sample of a guy online chatting sex talk with someone, make a separate track with the guns shots and play them at the sime together and it would all sound like the same event. If he wanted to add gunshots he’d just sample a small sound byte and lay it right in the track, then he’d play it and listen to it and fine tune it until it sounded “real” then master it as all one layer. It’s actually child’s play if you have the right software.
The delay means nothing, I agree.
Could have been he charged, then charged again till the bullet hit the brain.
I had that same thought when listening to the tape. Glad it was not just me thinking it.
.
There have been accounts indicating that there was a struggle for Wilson’s gun. Who knows if those are accurate? But if there was a struggle for the gun, shots could have been randomly fired.
The audio, if proven authentic, would seem to prove nothing on its own. But it could corroborate eyewitness accounts.
