Members of the UNM women's soccer team are alleging they were hazed by teammates Sunday night.
A victim's parent confirmed to KOB Monday night that freshmen on the women's soccer team were forced to strip naked, consume large amounts of alcohol and were sprayed with urine.
One of the victims ended up in the hospital, according to UNM police, who also said someone called 911 just before midnight Sunday night to report the incident.
One victim's family has already retained an Albuquerque attorney who confirmed the information about the alleged hazing.

I don’t know about sports teams but sorority hazing was far more brutal than the average frat.
One big difference is frat boys could come and assist with some of the hazing. Typically it was very sexual and basically rape by a dozen+ boys. One incident I recall was girls that couldn’t get clothed and leave until they filled a cup with a certain fluid I wont mention.
Frats typically shied away from such things because they were considered too homosexual. Some of the pledges would have to become brothers after all...
As much as I understand the call for cancelling the season, the girls that went through the hazing deserve to play. Just lop off the guilty parties after an investigation.
I’ll bet there were a few ring leaders who rule the roost here. They and their minions who participated should go.
I hate to seen innocents pay the penalty for those committed the inexcusable acts.
That’s reasonable. Punish the instigators and let the rest of the team play.
When reading such stories, I've sometimes wondered about that too. What I wonder about every time I read one of these stories is why doesn't one, just one, of the haz-ies go ape sh*t and start bashing faces?

I graduated from college 34 years ago. The girls were every bit as stupid then as they are today about these kinds of things.
so as long as your definition of now is 4 decades or so, I agree with you.

Here is the thing. Did this happen to the girls who are doing the hazing? Did it happen to the ones before them? Before them? Etc...
I get fraternities and sororities having their rituals, some brutal. My son is a second year and went through whatever ritual to become a frat brother. He wouldn’t tell me what happened, coming home with an autographed empty bottle of Jack Daniels pretty much sums it up.
But sports teams? As a rookie hockey player I had everything from my jock doused with Ben Gay to the glorious head shave. I didn’t see the “Youngblood” performed on any rooks.
Urine? That’s just disgusting
I didn’t realize that golden showers was a standard hazing routine. I’m so out of date.
