“In light of the heightened media coverage of the issue of undocumented immigrant children, VDOE provides the following updated information for your use in responding to community questions or issues,” says the memo distributed to the commonwealth’s 132 school divisions and obtained by Breitbart News.

“While a case-by-case review of each child’s circumstances upon enrolling in a Virginia public school is necessary, many of these unaccompanied children will be deemed homeless under applicable state and federal law,” the memo reads. It goes on:
Pursuant to Va. Code § 22.1-3, a homeless child is one who lacks a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence. The statute specifies that, included in this definition, are ‘unaccompanied youths who are not in the physical custody of their parents, who... are sharing the housing of other persons due to loss of housing, economic hardship, or other causes; are living in motels, hotels, trailer parks, or camping grounds due to lack of alternative adequate accommodations or in emergency, congregate, temporary, or transitional shelters; are abandoned in hospitals; or are awaiting foster care placement…’

Under McKinney-Vento, school districts must appoint a local liaison to ensure, among other things, that (1) children and youth eligible under McKinney Vento are identified; (2) that they immediately enroll in, and have a full and equal opportunity to succeed in, the schools of the district; and (3) they receive educational services for which they are eligible, and referrals to health care services, dental services, mental health services, and other appropriate services.

“In addition, division superintendents cannot exclude from school attendance those homeless children who do not provide the requisite health or immunization information required of other students,” the memo continued.

Try enrolling YOUR child in a district that YOU don't live in and see if it works for you...

This just totally sucks rocks. If I had a school age child, they’d become home schooled kids immediately, regardless of the sacrifice it took to do it. The illegal kids have some SERIOUS health issues and for the government to foist them on the schools and endanger American kids, actual citizens in this country, is unconscionable and a few other descriptive words I’ll refrain from using. If We the People put up with this, we deserve what we get.
This is really unbelievable. It is impossible to enroll a child in school without providing proof of vaccinations, etc. A child who is a U.S. citizen, I mean.
According to the WH talking heads, over 90% of the illegal alien “children” have already been placed in homes with relatives or whomever. So how can they be homeless, pray tell?

We don't have enough Spanish speaking teachers to handle all these NEW kids in school who only know a dozen or so words of English.
They have a constitutional right to a free quality education, healthy free school lunches and in-state college tuition rates. ;

They’re not homeless. This is just the lie they use to avoid providing proper documentation.
It may be that it’s going to take American parents see their children become infected with diseases and infections and infestations en masse to wake them up. It’s a shame. Once again, it’s “for the children”. Any children except those of productive, law-abiding, taxpaying Americans.
