The definition of a maximalist is a person who holds extreme views and is not prepared to compromise. Although he accuses others of being maximalist saboteurs, there is no one who holds more extreme views, or is less prepared to compromise than Barack Obama.
In an interview with a supporter and defender of progressive-style overreaching government Thomas Friedman of the New York Times, in a piece entitled Obama on the World, self-proclaimed moderate Barack Obama talked of Iraq, Putin, and Israel.
The president used the unrest in the Middle East to describe the state of American politics in the following way:
We have so many things going for us right now as a country -- from new energy resources to innovation to a growing economy -- but we will never realize our full potential unless our two parties adopt the same outlook that were asking of Shiites, Sunnis and Kurds or Israelis and Palestinians: No victor, no vanquished and work together.
Obama did not elaborate on whom, in Americas political system, he likens to ISIS, al Qaeda, Hezbollah or Hamas, so one can only guess.

The term “maRximalist” might be a better fit.
Awesome piece!
This is what happens when one elects a man whose entire life is predicated upon never taking responsibility for anything.
BINGO!!!! Obama has rubbed his win into Republican faces for YEARS!! Especially to McCain!
I’m sitting in an airport this morning with time on my hands, so I picked up the IHT and tried to make it through Friedman’s article.
First of all, Friedman interviewing Obama is a version of Dumb and Dumber. I could not make it through the whole thing. It is gibberish.
Despite my best efforts to kill both those activities....
Thank you for posting my article.
God bless!

meanwhile, Obama fears for his life playing golf.
the threats have produced the level of panic among the secret service such that armed troops are required to cordon him off when out of extremely controlled indoor situations.
Brutus and Cassius are not allowed in the White House any more.
No victor, no vanquished,..no unity of command.
He takes responsibility for everything. He just refuses to be held accountable.
The Current FReepathon Pays For The Current Quarter's Expenses?
The American people are the vanquished in Obama’s world.
Honestly I found the article a weak counter to Obama’s pabulum. Friedman should be ashamed of himself. The majority of comments in the NYT version were nauseating but they laid out the need for a much stronger counter argument. The comments suggest that Obama’s supporters see his position as being subtle and nuanced and built on a solid intellectual foundation. They are as wrong as were Neville Chamberlin’s supporters in 1938. I think Obama is completely overwhelmed and his comments in the interview are so much hand-waving. His position is more “feel good” sloganeering than analysis. I think Egypt is the perfect illustration of his total failure to grasp the dynamics of the Middle East. He has in fact opposed one of the few governments in the Middle East that has actively fought to stem the tide of Medievalism.
It is also a mistake to confound Obama’s approach to domestic policies and his approach - if you can call it that - to foreign matters. He has a kind of domestic agenda, but no coherent foreign policy agenda beyond withdrawal.
In the far future, historians will look into his record in the US Senate and examine his cynical political tactic of never casting vote other than “present.”
I hope the media reaps their just rewards for backing this miserable wrecker.
