Fore left! Q. Is there any news professional who doesn't know that, out of respect for military families, President George W. Bush gave up golf not long after the Iraq war started? A. Yes. Dan Harris, weekend Good Morning America co-host.
Harris' ignoranceor intentional disregard of the factswas displayed during a segment today's GMA after Jonathan Karl reported that President Obama hit the links within an hour of landing at Martha's Vineyard and just hours after making a statement about US attacks on ISIS forces. After Karl said that Woodrow Wilson, in office during WWI, had played more golf than any other president, Harris claimed "George W. Bush played his fair share of golf during the Iraq war as well." In fact, as noted above, W renounced golf in August, 2003, saying "I don't want some mom whose son may have recently died to see the commander in chief playing golf . . . I feel I owe it to the families to be as -- to be in solidarity as best as I can with them. And I think playing golf during a war just sends the wrong signal." But defending Obama was apparently more important for Harris than the facts.

Obama should reward Dan Harris by letting him caddy for him in a future round. Ping to Today show list.
Truth is out of style.
Did someone correct him onscreen?
Without having George Bush around, the Kenyan would have been thrown out of office the first year of his first term.
The were only 4 Presidents in my lifetime who were known avid golfers. JFK, Nixon, Ford, and Clinton. Seems to me Obama plays more than all of them combined.
Yes, this shows what is typical among fake journalists—rampant in the networks and the print and radio media. National networks right down to the local newsrags, tv stations and “news radio” stations in our own towns.
These fake journalists in every corner of the USA have a knee jerk reaction to defend, publicly, the worst occupant of the Oval Office ever.
Thanks for posting! Reminds me of why I haven’t watched ABC News in over 30 years!
Liars lie. That’s what they do. No surprise here.
In mine, Eisenhower was the most attuned to playing often.
Nixon I think picked up the game as his VP. Nixon was also denied membership in Balthusal CC while BP interestingly.
Clinton I think played golf more for the party atmosphere. He and Norman were remored philanderers after their rounds together.
JFK was a good golfer but his back did not allow for much playing (golf) was president.
Bush I probably played more round than did W over their two terms for sure but neither ever played a round for more than 4 hours as they played quickly.
Ford was perhaps one of the better golfers of the bunch but his wildness off tee was dwelled upon by the press.
But as you say, with the exception of Eisenhower, I don’t think if you added all the rounds played by all the golfing presidents since Ike, they would not equal the number played by Obama.
It struck me when Obama was late again for his press conference but out the door within the hour from his family vacation to play golf without all those Obama women, I wonder how many times Obama has been late for his tee time. I bet very few times.
Ike played a ton of golf. But, damn...he was Ike.

A perfect example of my definition of a liberal: someone who never lets the truth get in the way of his agenda.
GWB’s “fair share” was no golf at all for the last five years of his presidency. All words must be parsed from the liberal perspective....despicable leftist press.
I tried to send an email to that address but I just got an error message.
Just another Ministry of Information liar.
