Hawaiians are preparing for a potentially devastating one-two tropical cyclone punch, starting with Hurricane Iselle, which in a rarity for the state could make direct landfall Thursday evening.
Iselle, on track to pass over the Big Island of Hawaii as a Category 1 hurricane with winds of 80 mph, could bring up to 12 inches of rain, life-threatening storm surges, flash floods and mudslides, forecasters say.

Prayers for all of HI. My husband and I are scheduled to fly to Maui on Tuesday of next week, so we are quite upset to hear of these “once in a lifetime” double whammy storms!
Requesting prayers from FRiends.
You’ve got them. Stay safe.
Prayers up!
You got it. Prayers up.
HURRICANE JULIO (E. Pacific) at 07/1500Z 16.9N 136.5W 90 KT 105 MPH (Plymouth State)
Maybe the storm surge will wash up another BO birth certificate.
Heading out shortly to top up the tank and get couple hundred out of the ATM. My nerves are getting a little agitated. Walking with thoughts and prayers heavenward.
Someone mentioned a 4.0 Earthquake in near Hawaii just occured. Can anyone verify that rumor. ??

visited Hilo recently - was amazed how wet it is already. Can't imagine what another 12" of rain would look like there!
They'll turn up in the trunk of a damaged car with more Rose Law Firm billing records.
Water. Speaking from the Hurricane Prone Gulf of Mexico, get more water than you think you need. Not just drinking, but be sure you can flush a toilet if the power is left down in your area.
A good sealing bathtub should be full of water when it really gets close.
Some little items like that can cost little but make a couple days without power soooo much better.
Any plastic milk jugs or the like should fill your freezer with water. Lots of ice to ride through power outages without getting too warm.
I am going to Maui Tues next week, too. I am hoping for the best.
Maybe the storm surge will wash up another BO birth certificate.
Be sure to look down by the school yard.
To be blamed on Global Warming!
Prayers up for Freepers and their families.
Yep got all my water yesterday, 2 5 gallon jugs and some bottled water too. We are on water catchment here so have a 24 foot above ground pool full. We have about 16,000 gallons on hand. I guess that’ll do :)
Think great Flood , Think Democrat Paradise ,a story in the Bible
You’re probably good to go so long as (a) you’re safe from storm surge (which will hit Hilo pretty hard), (b) safe from flooding, and (c) you don’t have a bunch of potential ‘missiles’ in the neighborhood that can readily be thrown around.
It’s a fast mover, so it’ll blow through relatively quickly... probably just below hurricane strength. Shouldn’t be too bad.
