Police detained two men at a Midtown hotel late Friday after a doorman reported they possessed a pair of pressure cookers like those used to make the Boston Marathon bombs.
But the men say it was a misunderstanding: They plan to use the pressure cookers back home to prepare rice, chicken and meat.
Mohammad Alotaibi, 20, and Ayoub Alawadhi, 21, pulled up to the InterContinental Hotel on East 48th Street on Friday evening with the pressure cookers in their car trunk, said law enforcement sources.

They are living in Idaho and are carrying with them pressure cookers when they are going to stay at a fancy hotel in NY. And they just happen to have Muslim names. Article says they are originally from Kuwait.

Lying scum. You don’t cook rice in a pressure cooker.

Yes, you can cook rice in a pressure cooker. It reduces the cook time considerably.

“Lying scum. You dont cook rice in a pressure cooker.”
I agree with you about the lying scum part, but in fact you do cook non minute rice in a pressure cooker sometimes. If You’ve ever cooked it, it takes a Looonnng time in a sauce pan on a burner.

They are probably not lying, just not telling the entire truth.
1. Cook food.
2. Eat.
3. Make bombs with pressure cookers.
4. Blow up people.

Yes, you can cook rice in a pressure cooker. It reduces the cook time considerably. At home, sure. In a hotel room, not normally.

Why buy them on the road. Every state carries them.
And why buy them when you're traveling to NY. Seems like you would buy them on the way back to Idaho.
And why buy them from an Arab store...unless of course they come with shrapnel and detonators and directions.
Anyways, maybe we found a few more guys to keep an eye on.
To: Innovative
Bought the pressure cookers in Dearborn MI and brought them along to NYC for a few days of sightseeing fun.
NYC should charge an import sales tax.
