Nigeria says it has put all entries into the country on red alert after confirming the death of a Liberian man who was carrying the Ebola virus.

Ebola has never been a big international threat, because it kills too quickly to spread efficiently. This is by far the biggest outbreak in history. I wonder if something’s changed, or if is just being managed very poorly by the various governments.

The difference in the past was outbreaks occurred in isolated rural areas, where the infection killed too quickly to spread much. For the first time we are seeing it in a mobile urban population. God help us if someone jumps on plane from Lagos to Ohare with it....
