The figures, released late Thursday, cap the fine for not buying insurance at $2,448 per person and $12,240 for a family of five. The standard rule of thumb is 2% of household income, with a minimum of $325 per person.
The caps are equal to the national average premium for a bronze-level health plan.
Those who choose to go uninsured will owe one-twelfth of the annual payment for each month they or their dependents dont have either coverage or an exemption, the IRS said.
All fines will be due during tax return season, which can be deducted from tax refunds.

Muslims (and Amish) are exempt.
Prove that I’m not one...
I think many people are going to tell them where to shove it.

Damned right!
Muslims are not exempt.
These are the taxes that you are not supposed to owe if your state did not create an exchange.
Of course, I’m not stupid, so I have insurance, which is helpful when you get a retina detachment or need major surgery.
Oh I get it. The fines will fund Obamacare.
Wait, it’s listed as OTHER TAXES.
Wasn’t there an issue about where the bill originated? That’s why the administration was saying it was NOT a ‘tax.’
I can’t keep up with the lawlessness.
Somehow I don't think that's an accident.
No Doubt, but expect your paycheck to be lighter for a while. Feed your family? Mortgage payment? gas for your car? Sorry! got to pay for the health care you don't want.
I’m not paying. They can send me to the gulag.

Yeah, people are going to have a lot of extra cash to help keep the booming economy going./s
I don’t understand why most people aren’t absolutely infuriated by all that’s going on.
A lot of people will become Amish or Muslim who are exempt.
“All fines can be deducted from tax refunds.” I suspect the more accurate word would be “will” (be deducted).
Or you can pay when you write your check to the US Treasury on or about April 15th. Or—from what I’ve read and heard—not.

>Orfrom what Ive read and heardnot<.
I don’t understand the last sentence.
These Fascist bastards can go back to hell where they belong.
I remember hearing someplace reputable that if you pay taxes—as opposed to receiving a refund—whether you pay the fine is up to you. As hard as it is to believe, the IRS has no recourse.
This is just my opinion, and subject to change. Act on it at your own risk, laplata. I’ve got a real problem paying a fine for something I never wanted, and I pay eno— *too much already* in taxes to those bloodsuckers.
Thanks for the clarification and info.
Man, these Fascists bastards are pure evil. You’re right....they are filthy bloodsuckers.
