The crowd of 500 included grandmothers and small children, Chinese immigrants and the president of a local Republican club, all shouting that the mayor had trampled their rights.
The source of their anger? The 180 homeless families the city had moved into the defunct Pan American Hotel in Elmhurst, Queens. The residents felt nervous around the new arrivals, they said. There were reports of shoplifting from the Good Fortune Supermarket, public urination and panhandling – all things, they said, that had been unheard-of in their neighborhood until now.
During the protest on Tuesday night, one of the organizers spoke through a bullhorn in Mandarin, as a few people looked out of the windows of the hotel.
“Speak in English!” a woman leaning out a window shouted, holding up her phone, perhaps to take a video of the protest.
“Homeless with money,” a protester sneered, referring to the woman’s phone.
While local residents often object when the city opens a homeless shelter in their midst, the vitriol in Elmhurst, since the city began moving families into the hotel in early June has shocked city officials. Because many of those opposed to the shelter are Chinese immigrants, the conflict has also produced discomfiting images of immigrant families and the mostly black and Latino homeless families shouting insults at one another. A local civic group has organized a series of protests, including one in late June in which some of the protesters yelled at the shelter residents to “Get a job!” and the homeless families responded that their opponents should “go back to China.”

This is how you ‘’gentrify’’ a neighborhood. Move in the homeless (or a methadone clinic) drive down property values. Folks sell out, bing, you buy up the properties and sell ‘em to the young ‘’professionals’’ as condos and time shares.
What person in his/her right mind welcomes a “homeless” shelter to their neighborhood?
There goes the neighborhood, for sure. The illegal Chinese, whom I refer to as “coolie Chinese”, are no-class uneducated petty criminals right from the gutters of China. They are the ones who squat near the curb to smoke cigarettes, sell illegal endangered animals for pets, run their own little economy among one another without taxes being collected, toss trash wherever it falls, refuse to learn English or assimilate (except to collect benefits), rummage around in peoples’ garbage cans to collect bottles for redemption, turn lawns into truck gardens, smoke endlessly, littering the sidewalks with butts, go around hawking pirated videos (sometimes right outside video stores!), and bring a new level to “lack of any class”.
Diversity is such a blessing!

And sadly, our liberal culture does its best to make sure that the children or grandchildren of these hard working Asian immigrants are just as lazy and entitled as native-born Americans. Within a generation or two, they’ll be demanding a handout for the homeless and grievance-mongering too.
Seems like some impeachments are in order.

When I lived in Elmhurst, there was an old Chinese woman who made the most disgusting sound, followed by a huge spit on the sidewalk, even in front of me while walking by.
I wondered what that was about... an insult or what?
One day she did that in the building lobby so I stopped and told her: Excuse me but in America that is disgusting and someone could easily slip on that (on the smooth stone lobby floor) and fall.
She obviously didn’t speak English and had no reply so I told her: Ching-chung-chi-chun-cho-ching, while pointing at her spit.
She then off loaded on me with a long Chinese reply. LoL!
I told her thank you.
