Ohio State University has fired the director of its marching band and is expanding an internal investigation that uncovered a deep culture of sexual harassment among students that reportedly has existed for years.
The two-month investigation, triggered by the complaint of a parent, revealed a cascade of evidence that students routinely harassed one another often directed at new band members by older students and that director Jonathan Waters knew about it or should have known.
Waters, 38, was ousted from his post effective today, OSU President Michael V. Drake said. Details of the investigation are laid out in a 23-page report obtained by The Dispatch.

“One time at band camp.....”
All these initiations that involve insulting, intimidating, embarrassing, humiliating, lording over, verbally abusing and even physically abusing other people should have been ended long ago. And, of course, a kid or two ends up dead from these stupid rites just about every year.
If someone has worked and learned a skill for years, why should advancing to a higher level involve being subjected to such idiocy?
Though not quite as intentionally...
Heh...using a contra or soprano?
Contra, actually.
Do any damage?...to the contra?
“pretty darn graphic”
Good to see ‘Barnacle Bill the Sailor’ lives on.
I think Dr. Dirty, AKA John Valby, still gigs around campuses.
LOL!!.................
It was plenty damaged already, we recognized our horns by the dents and duct tape.
It’s why I LOVE Freerepublic!!!!
Read the link. There were disgusting acts and demands upon the new students.

Boo Hoo, some new band guys got hazed.
I was in the Univ of Arkansas marching band for two years. We newbies got hazed and we didn’t whine like babies about it.
And we were all sex crazed kids anyway!
That should be against the law! lol
Which was pretty much normal for college and HS when I was growing up. I had a nickname and got razzed, sometimes I didn’t like it.
One time I was in a band, I got myself thrown in a river.
Today, there’d probably have to be an environmental impact statement on that.
The PS in the Preface should have taken care of it... but not in our hyper-sensitive, get-offended-first culture.
People are offended by the wrong things and not offended by the things that should offend them
totally inappropriate for some places though
