On the day he won a Western Conservative Summit straw poll, Dr. Ben Carson reported hes starting to think about the possibility of a White House bid in 2016.
Reporting that hundreds are showing up for his book signing tour, Carson says of the idea its one he cannot simply ignore.
Carson rose to prominence after the public dressing down of Obamacare at a prayer breakfast at which President Obama was in attendance. Since that address, Carsons star has continued to rise among key GOP constituents fed up with what is perceived as a less-than-aggressive response by House leadership.
Despite his popularity, Carsons electoral prowess is untested, and history does not reflect well on outsider candidates. With an expectedly crowded GOP field of contenders in 2016, Carsons potential path to the White House is littered with land mines.
Ever coy, Carson reminded, But it certainly wasnt on my bucket list when I retired.
R. Reagan
Carson is against the 2nd amendment.
I heard it from his own lips.
Someone wrote that Carson has now stated that gun registration s bad.
One month ago - one month ago - i heard him say the opposite. Heard him say it.
I also heard him say, specifically, that most Americans should not be allowed to own guns, that our cities should be gun free zones, and that in addition to full registration - complicated, expensive, and yearly qualification should be conducted on anyone if they want a “gun license.”
You vote for him you’re a moron.
Tested? He got audited by IRS after his famous breakfast speech where he slammed Obama in a very subtle way....He knows that people will come after him. I just hope he doesn’t have any skeletons in his closet, like Hermain Cain....
But he can split some social conservatives away from a far better and more qualified overall candidate, such as a Ted Cruz, so yet another RINO loser is nominated instead. Stay, Ben, Stay. Please.
Like Boehner, Roberts, ...
what makes him attractive to “social conservatives”? His ever-changing opinions?
Geron, you view the socon threads just like I do. You know what some posters say about him. I’m a hard-core socon and I hope he DOESN’T run.
I have a very critical eye for this particular guy though, positions don’t turn on a dime like that in normal people who aren’t wanting to be elected.
No, too many conservatives splitting the vote in the primary, including those without a realistic shot to win, is just what the GOPe counts on.
If there aren’t enough conservative vanity runs, the GOPe egg a few more on, just to make sure the Establishment vote can come away with a plurality win.
He’s pro-amnesty—that’s skeleton enough for me.
He’s pro-amnesty. Even if the GOP were to reverse Obamacare in 2016, amnesty would create enough new Democrat voters to vote in a single-payer system before we know it.
Yep. I wouldn’t take a chance on anyone who doesn’t have years of a public voting record that we can assess them on.
You are correct..... he’s looking to be the man that kills obamacare and revives the health care of America.
I’m worried about him. He’s not stupid but he has some iffy ideas on the second amendment.
(I believe Ronaldo Magnus is the greatest president of the 20th century. He was instrumental in defeating the, Evil Empire without taking a shot.)
