Crashed MH17 flight 'was 300 miles off typical course'
The London Telegraph ^ | July 18, 2014 | Tom Brooks-Pollock and Edward Malnick

MH17 flight feared to have been shot down over Ukraine was taking a significantly different route to the usual course for flights from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur, according to aviation expert.

The crashed MH17 flight took a route 300 miles to the north of its usual path, an aviation expert has said.

Robert Mark, a commercial pilot who edits Aviation International News Safety magazine, said that most Malaysia Airlines flights from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur normally travelled along a route significantly further south than the plane which crashed.

Malaysia Airlines has insisted its plane travelled on an "approved route" used by many other carriers.

But Mr Mark said: "I can only tell you as a commercial pilot myself that if we had been routed that way, with what's been going on in the Ukraine and the Russian border over the last few weeks and months, I would never have accepted that route....

>>>>>>>Agreed. Does somebody have it in for the airline, their insurer, or their reinsurer? Maybe some other carrier wants those routes? >>>>>>

Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777 (MH370) was leased from Soros-affiliated company.

Can anyone confirm whether this MH17 was also leased from Soros?

Methinks MA is Air America of sorts.

True about Crimean Muslim opposition to annexation, so why would majority Muslim Malaysia and/or pilot want to do something stupid there?

>>>>>Because the flight path over that area could of been directed by Ukraine flight control... So why directed in to a hot area not on normal flight path? To try to trigger some incident for political gain?. testing defence?<<<<<<<<

Shadow of KAL007, at least by judging WH propaganda arm.

What is known beyond doubt:

1. The route was chosen by Ukraine ATC in Kiev. Pilot accepted the route, although he was not obliged to do so.

2. Kiev ATC lowered flight from 36,000ft (360) to 32,000 ft.

3. Corridor was closed for civilian traffic BELOW 30,000 ft. MH17 was sailing only 200ft above restricted airspace.

4. Ukraine army deployed 21 BUK launchers and command vehicle/radar two day before in the area where the MH17 fell.

5. Acquisition radar was active at the time MH17 was shot down.

6. Kiev ATC reported of MH17 being shot down the moment it went off radar.

7. Numerous amateur videos captured the plane plumes. On several of the videos chaff could be seen falling down, indicating the presence of someone's fighter jets.

Who did it? There are 5 possible perps: US/NATO puppet regime in Kiev, Russia, Donetsk defence forces, Oligarchs paying one of the parties to do dirty job for them.

So, the better question is - Who gains?

How do you know the Russians have not put SAM’s in the hands of the separatists? From various reports it sounds as if the separatists were controlling firing perhaps with supervision and assistance of Russians. The rocket needed radar guidance.

~The rocket needed radar guidance.~

Launcher has a built-in radar for both lock-on and missile guidance. Intact battle group is three vehicles including advanced radar connected via wireless or cable datalink but it is not a must.

How do you know the Russians have not put SAM’s in the hands of the separatists?

This specific SAM is designed for taking down targets that are flying so high that they cannot harm the separatists on the ground. Not without guided bombs, at least - and there were no reports of such bombs being used. SA-11/SA-17 is a complex weapon for a full-scale war with massive use of air forces. But there is no such aerial combat in this conflict.

Ukrainian aviation that is bothering separatists is flying relatively low and doing two things: ground support and delivery of troops. Those airplanes can be defeated by MANPADS, and those are indeed present in the area. But MANPADS are not designed to reach 30,000 feet; that's why the civilian flights were allowed over the area.

There does not appear to be any military reason for Russia to provide SA-11/SA-17 SAMs to separatists, as there are no viable targets for them (let alone the trained crews.) Besides, there does not appear to be any reason, political or military, for *anyone* (except oligarchs!) to intentionally strike a civililan flight. None of the three sides of the conflict (Ukraine, separatists, and Russia) have gained anything from this incident, and no such gains could have been expected. Oligarchs, however, could use weakening of Poroshenko's government to further fragment Ukraine and get absolute power over those pieces. Chaos of war makes such a provocation easy.

If that pathetic excuse held any water, then the “responsible government” would admit that they did it.

I saw where the Russian "rebel" thugs boasted of shooting down the plane.

This need around here for dark forces and conspiracy is ridiculous.

The article is nothing other than a cover story to protect Putin and his thugs from the bad publicity brought on by their latest terrorist act.

Wouldn't have made a difference, IFF if used can only ID a friendly. Additionally, whoever pulled the trigger on the SAM didn't care who or what the target was.

No IFF + off course would prima facie indicate a hijacking

No it doesn't. Friend/foe ID is nation specific. Even a non-squawk on a transponder doesn't mean that. Not sqawking doesn't mean you are invisible, just means there is no altitude readout on the ground station.

Not a manpad.

"elevation is not your friend"

No, but altitude surely is friendly as a defense against portable air defense missiles.

A fighter might be safe from recent versions of Manpads at 20,000

No might about it, unless he is flying around at 20k gear down in a straight line. At 33k, any aircraft is safe from a manpads.
