Maverick.
Sad news
He was one of those actors who could scan the script once and he knew his lines and how to deliver them. Always professional. No behind the scenes drama. Just a smart guy with a great talent and an even keel.
Loved him in Hallmark’s “DECORATION DAY” with Judith Ivey, Ruby Dee and Bill Cobbs.
He and Bill really clicked, starring again in “The Ultimate Gift”.
RIP “Judge Finch”.
Loved Garner in “The Great Escape”.
Oh no!
He was part Cherokee. Has Elizabeth Warren’s offered a statement regarding the passing of a fellow member of her tribe.
All the good ones are leaving us. First they went bald, then they went walkabout.
They are all missed, and will be.
Rest in peace, Jim.
TV today stinks.
Been watcing my own Rockford Files marathon on Netflix the past couple of weeks.
What a great show.
Thank James.
‘The Great Escape’ is one of my favorite movies. Sad to hear this news.
I’ve watched all of them at least twice, along with Columbo.
Grew up with Garner in Maverick, the TV series, and the Rockford Files. To one of the really good guys, RIP!
OMG! My Mom is going to do into deep mourning; he was her Fantasy Man. I think she’s watched his, ‘Murphy’s Romance’ with Sally Field 100X.
RIP, Mr. Rockford. :(
P.S. If any of you get MeTV, I’m sure they’ll be running back-to-backs of, ‘The Rockford Files’ this upcoming week.
“I want you to remember that the last time you saw me, I was unregenerately eating a Hershey bar” RIP Mr. Garner
Agreed.
Much like Paul Newman who was also quite politically liberal (perhaps more what could be called a classic liberal), and someone also not living the Hollywood lifestyle and like Newman, being married to the same woman for all his life, Garner wasnt someone who impressed me as being in your face about it or someone who used his star status to tell anyone else how they should think or vote. I could imagine sitting down with Garner (and Newman for that matter), having a good meal and beer or two and having conversation, perhaps, most certainly disagreeing on most things political but it never becoming shrill or nasty and maybe even agreeing on a few things auto racing, golf .
Garner once said, regarding Hollywood "I got into the business to put a roof over my head. I wasn't looking for star status. I just wanted to keep working."
He also said this about marriage: "Marriage is like the Army; everyone complains. But you'd be surprised at the large number of people who re-enlist."
I loved him in the Great Escape and many, many other films including Grand Prix. And I loved the Rockford Files.
RIP Jim.
I saw this on Wikipedia:

Garner was married to Lois Clarke,[33] whom he met at an “Adlai Stevenson for President” rally in 1956. They married 14 days later on August 17, 1956.
Rest in Peace Mr. Garner. Thanks for the memories.
