In a letter to employees early Thursday, Microsoft CEO Sataya Nadella said the tech giant will slash its workforce by as many as 18,000 jobs over the course of the next year, with the first round of 13,000 cuts coming within the next six months.

The Nokia part is gonna be getting the biggest axe it looks. I guess that’s to be expected. Always bad to be in the ‘bought’ company. The buyer one cleans house pretty quick.
Windows phone 8 is actually pretty nice and I hope they can keep it going, since a 3-way competition with it, android, and ios seems best to me.
I hope it’s that whole human factors department that keeps asking you “Do you really want to do this? The file will be lost.”
“Okay, you want to delete it, but are you really sure? We may not be able to get it back for you.” [Yes]
“We see you really are determined to delete this file. Are you really, really, really, positively sure?” [Yes]
“Okay, we’ll do it - but we don’t like it.” [so what]
“Okay, okay, we deleted it. But just in case you didn’t want to do that, we’ve saved it somewhere it’ll be near impossible for you to find and delete.” [Delete]
“Have a nice day.” [GFY]
But of course, there is still a critical need for more H1B visas due to the shortage of STEM workers. And amnesty for all illegals is critical to future of the US, at least according to Gates and his billionaire buddies.
But, but, but the economy is on the upswing!
Wow.
Just wow.
That will leave a mark.
18,000 jobs to be lost through layoffs? Look for the jug-eared Marxist’s Labor Department to drop the unemployment number another 2%...
Man, are we rockin’ this economy, or what?!
Or what.
WOW 18,000 more people who will be liberated, not tied down to a job. They will be able to spend more time with their families, pursue their hobbies, etc., and all of those unemployment benefits are a boon to the economy. Can’t wait to hear Nancy Pelosi come out with her remarks on how wonderful this is.
Microsoft is the company most heavily invested in beta testing now.
Every customer is a beta tester!
Wait a minute...didn’t the Dear Leader of Microsoft along with 2 other billionaires claim the US needs to import hundred of thousands additional so called high skilled workers to fill positions???? This and the Camp of the Saints scenario playing out on the Rio Grande should put an end to talk about immigration “reform”.
This is a great example of how far Bill Gates is detached from reality. Clearly, there is disconnect between reality and his promotion of amnesty.
Bill Gates hasn’t been involved with Microsoft since 2008. Steve Ballmer is the man pulling the strings, and yes, he’s quite detached from reality.
That was Bill Gates (Gates Foundation) who hasn’t been the head of Microsoft for some time along with Buffet and Adelson. Steve Ballmer took over from Gates and Satya Nadella took over earlier this year.
