Two hundred children who crossed the southern border were in Nebraska Wednesday awaiting deportation.
The number is a fraction of the more than 50,000 children who tried to enter the United States since October.
A local nun who saw the situation in Central America believes sending the children back could mean a death sentence. Sister Kathleen Erickson said the situation in Honduras has deteriorated since a coup in 2009.
Erickson said she wonders why America would send children back when theyre trying to survive.
There seemed to be a lot of bodies of young people being found, and Im talking into the hundreds, she said.
She said it is no surprise that many children from Honduras, Ecuador and Guatemala would try to survive by heading north.

It’s not just the catholics who are pushing the humanitarian “for the children” scam.
Well, she is speaking as an individual and has the right to be wrong...
A Baptist or “Baptist” group has been visibly pulled in too, and there are doubtless other dimly-mainline-church related bodies out there in the shadows.
There is no other problem than that.
First of all, I don’t believe they made the trek. Otherwise their clothes would be tattered and they’d be emaciated. In other words, they’d look like Confederate soldiers in GONE WITH THE WIND.
Second, conditions are deteriorating here, too.
For the trillionth time, there was NO COUP. This is tied into the Ø Regime's meme where their marxist, Zelaya, wanted to usurp their constitution (like in the USA), and their supreme court said "Hell NO!". This happened in the beginning days of Ø's reign, and was an early eye opener to his marxist desires.
'cause we can't fit 6 billion people in this country!
Every time I hear one of these lefties sound off like that my revulsion for the Roman Catholic church grows. And I include the pope in that too.
And I've been a RC for 50 years. Thought these people were supposed to look after their sheep. Sure don't seem to be.
The Honduras Affair demonstrated that Barack Obama and Hugo Chavez saw eye-to-eye.
This event should have made it clear to everybody that Obama was a coercion & shackles guy, not a man of liberty and freedom.
She is a remnant of the “liberation theology” movement from the ‘80s.
Someone should question Sister Kathleen about the horrors of thousands of undocumented Central Americans having to endure the rigors of mid-western winters.
Yup.
The new and improved Gold Rush.
Exactly.
They can pray while they change dirty diapers.
I am Catholic and left years ago when I realized my hard earned money, faithfully put in the collection basket each Sunday, was going to shelter and protect pedophiles.
The church’s hands are filthy from this current criminal act and I am disgusted.
The nun works for the Vatican and can not be believed. Her political agenda outweighs her vows
I will always be thankful for what the Catholic educational system did for me -- public schools were awful even 50 years ago -- but the Catholic church left me a long, long time ago.
The woman is a loon. You can have a cradle-to-grave welfare state. You can have an open-door immigration policy. But you can't have both. Everyone in the world will move here.
Family members just got back from mission at an orphanage in Guatemala and what you say rings true. What she says doesn’t.
She may be lying for a cause, I’ve seen leftist nuns do that before. The nuns in Guatemala aren’t like that. They’re smart practical and ethical. Kids would be better off in their care.
How come she is calling it a horror now???
Give it a few years. It will be so bad here people will be going back home. As for us we have no place to run...
An example of this writ small would be the city of San Francisco. Very generous to homeless. They've come from all over the continent. Having to step over and around homeless on sidewalks is common now. Sanitation issues due to public urination and defecation have become a major issue. This, in one of the more expensive cities in the country.
I did not leave the Church; the Church left me. For me it came down to greed on their part. Can you believe in sending out dunning notices (like I’ve never seen before or since) that you’d gotten behind in your pledge to the building fund! I went down and had some words with the moron responsible and then told him we were leaving the church. I have never gone back in 45 years.
Sending the kids here is a death sentence.
You’re responsible, not the USA
