In his message to the Mexico/Holy See Colloquium on Migration and Development, Pope Francis characterized the tens of thousands of illegal immigrants that have crossed the U.S. southern border as a product of globalization, suggesting that the phenomenon is happening worldwide.
Francis proclaimed, Despite the large influx of migrants present in all continents and in almost all countries, migration is still seen as an emergency, or as a circumstantial and sporadic fact, while instead it has now become a hallmark of our society and a challenge.
Emmer McCarthy for Vatican Radio said Francis expressed his concern for the tens of thousands of children who migrate alone, unaccompanied, to escape poverty and violence. He further sympathized, saying that this is a category of migrants who cross the border with the United States under extreme conditions and in pursuit of a hope that in most cases turns out to be vain." The Pope added that the amount of those willing to take the dangerous journey are increasing day by day."
The Argentinean pontiff claims that the illegal immigrants are forced to emigrate, suffer, and often, die tragically; many of their rights are violated, they are obliged to separate from their families and, unfortunately, continue to be the subject of racist and xenophobic attitudes.
Finally, the Pope called for everyone to have a new outlook toward migrants and refugees and that we should discard previous conceptions of defensiveness and fear, indifference and marginalization. Moreover, the world should transform itself from a throwaway culture to a culture "capable of building a better, more just and fraternal world."

Sorry, I ran out of compassion 10 million illegal aliens ago.
That's what I was going to say, except after seeing the show last week about the *ahem* pedophiles and gays in the upper echelon of the Vatican, we'd be sending the kids to who knows what.
That being said: other countries, the UN and any other big mouth organization/politician needs to walk the talk and pay for the mess out of their OWN funds, not ours. Maybe a certain clown needs to give up a few vacations.
Pope Francis would like to be known internationally for his deep humility and love for children.
Hotels want 'slavery-lite - illegals thankful for a job... and frightened of being deported.
Pedophiles want young children to torture and rape.
Liberal elites want to feel smug in their superiority of 'racially correct' thinking. ( And secretly wish for gratitude and appreciation.
Lowlife ‘parents’ in South America want citizenship - willing to have their children die for it.
And Obama wants chaos and strife - to bring down the country.
And us? We sense evil... we're moving toward the sound guns ... we see fires in the streets.
Dear Pope Francis:
No.
Get off your own butt, Frank, and care for these kids yourself with some of the Vatican's vast wealth. No foot washing photo ops, please.
Useful summary. Thanks.
Just trying to build up the numbers in the pews.
My point exactly.
Just WOW! The vitriol! But it’s what I have come to expect. :)Fiat voluntas Dei.
Should we have compassion for refugees and the poor? Yes.
Should we accept a set of government policies that encourage third world immigrants to come here without any controls — disease, crime, etc.— and then force the taxpayer to pay for it all? No.
There is a word for preaching at others to do what you’re not doing yourself. That word is ‘hypocrisy’. The hypocrites of Jesus’ day were the Pharisees, & He was singularly hard on them.
He did NOT go to the money changers and ask them to set up an IRS type system so money could efficiently be taken from people (against their will) and distributed according to a collective's idea of 'charity'. That IS NOT THE MESSAGE OF THE BIBLE.
Jesus was talking about salvation - YOUR salvation.
About YOU growing spiritually. About things YOU should do...NOT things you should FORCE others to do.
The scripture's beauty has NOTHING to do with setting up a bureaucracy to force citizens to ‘do good’.
I agree with your analysis, you opinionated blowhard.
Pope - easy for you to say. You have a lifetime job. You haven’t been pushed out of the workforce by a socialist government. You don’t have to worry about rising prices and confiscatory taxes.
Notice that in the article no where does the Pope claim the U.S. must welcome illegal immigrants (implying that the U.S. must stop enforcing her laws and allow anyone to remain here) as the title states?
This is a humanitarian crisis and the Christian response to this should be as the Pope says. That does not mean suspending whatever legal actions are normally taken against illegal immigrants. Charity can act within the law and without taking part in injustice.
Sadly much of the Catholic church, “mainline” protestants among others... long ago fired Jesus Christ and hired Karl Marx. :(No better example than the “liberation theology” of the Latin American Catholic church). This has resulted in permanent poverty in countries rich in natural resources, climate, flora and fauna. Countries were the people should be prosperous... but when the “church” declares prosperity to be “sinful” it cannot flourish. Jesus did admonish His followers to freely give of their bounty, but nowhere did He authorize any person or entity to come take(aka: steal) it! Good purposes or not.
