Casey Cooper is new to the bench, but hes well-connected . Just three months into his tenure on the federal bench, and before his formal investiture ceremony later this week, newly minted but well-connected U.S. District Judge Christopher Casey Cooper has been handed one of the most high-profile and politically sensitive American terrorism cases in recent years
...
Cooper, 47, was part of the Obama administrations transition team and is one of the more connected people in D.C. legal circles, Marimow notes. His wife, Amy Jeffress, worked at the Justice Department as a national security adviser to the attorney general. ..
When Cooper was an undergraduate at Yale, his roommate and close friend was John Rice, whose sister is now President Obamas national security adviser. Susan Rices controversial television appearances in the days after the Benghazi attacks helped fuel criticism that the Obama administration was trying to play down suspicions of terrorist involvement in the assault that killed the U.S. ambassador to Libya and three other Americans.
...
Khattala could take some solace in Coopers ties to the defense bar. With his father-in-law, Cooper successfully defended senior Saudi officials in a lawsuit brought by families of victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.

Killing the Kafir is approved under Sharia.
Why am I surprised?
No Imam for a Sharia trial? This must be the interim step in transforming this country to what it should be.
They didn’t make him judge for no reason you know.
Might as well be tried by the IRS.
Benghazi ping.
Let Republicanprofessor know if you want on or off this ping list.
Shouldn’t this judged recuse himself. There is no way he can be impartial or even give the appearance of impartiality.
Well,,,,, being a rookie, he might make an actionable comment! Watch and examine everything he says!
There is no desire to be impartial .
They do not care about the appearance of impartiality. The enemedia has their back.
Hitler and Stalin would approve.

Speaking of Judge Cooper’s wife Amy Jeffres...seems odd that the folks against warrantless eavesdropping were so casually eavesdropping on Trump ... like they wanted to get caught doing it.... perhaps in time to affect congresscritter voting on the 702 renewal? Has it been renewed yet or not?
(snip)Rep. Trent Frank, R-Ariz., a member of the House Judiciary Committee that will help craft the 702 renewal legislation [in 2017], said the rising revelation of problems about improper spying on Americans are having an effect on lawmakers who have long supported the intelligence community. ... One of the biggest concerns involves so-called backdoor searches in which the FBI can mine NSA intercept data for information that may have been incidentally collected about an American. No warrant or court approval is required, and the FBI insists these searches are one of the most essential tools in combating terrorist plots.
But a respected former Justice Department national security prosecutor questions if the searching has gotten too cavalier. ***Amy Jeffress,*** the former top security adviser to former Attorney General Eric Holder, was appointed by the intelligence court in 2015 to give an independent assessment of the FBIs record of compliance...(/snip)——

They expected Hillary to be President now, so they didn’t expect to be caught. I’m sure they’d have been happy to continue eavesdropping on the political opposition, as long as it’s conservatives (and rival liberals not in lockstep with them) getting spied on.
