The Los Angeles Times reports that Fox News host Bob Beckel, who co-hosts The Five and has been associated with the Democratic Party for decades, is under fire from a Democratic state senator for making an allegedly racist comment about Chinese people.
Democratic state Sen. Ted Lieu of Torrance released a statement on Saturday calling for Fox to drop Beckel after Beckel said during a Thursday episode of The Five, "As usual, we bring them over here and teach a bunch of Chinamen--Chinese people--how to do computers and then they go back to China and hack into us.
Beckels comment was in reference to a New York Times article about Chinese hackers, who breached the computer networks of a U.S. government agency that stores the personal information of everyone who works for the government.
Lieu noted that Beckels comment was the second time he had made ill-considered remarks about Chinese people; in 2013, Beckel said on The Five that one time he had gone swimming, and afterward his eyes blew up" and "it made me look Oriental.

I’m no Beckel fan, but this is ridiculous.
Ted Lieu is looking for his 15 minutes of fame.
*yawn*.
[and this is not a defense of Beckel.]
They can fire him for being a liberal, for being stupid, for near anything non-airworthy. But for this? No.....they should deal with it.
Libs attacking libs. Fun times! Now where is my popcorn?
Beckel is the perfect Demcrat.
Ignorant and racist.
Lighten up Teddy. You’re just a dumbass, DemocRAT state senator from California of all places. You have no room to talk, moron. I don’t really like Beckel but I DO LIKE the First Amendment. Take your BS to some commie country where they’ll appreciate your vomit.
Uh, what’s wrong with “Chinamen”? When I saw the headline I thought he said “Chink”.
>> this is ridiculous.
Not really.
Beckel isn’t a Leftwing saint, but he’s still a Leftwing practitioner breaking Leftwing law.
Beckel is amazingly thick. But not a firing offense. He just spoke the truth for once.
An apology was enough to get Sheets Byrd off the hook for his use of the “n-word”, that should suffice for Beckel.
Or is it that a powerful DemocRat senator with many years of seniority gets preferential treatment that an ordinary media flack can’t get?
It’s great that Ted Loo has a good handle on the nation’s priorities.
It was an uncomfortable moment with the other talking heads rolling their eyes, face palming, or just plain unable to look at the camera. One of many on that show as Beckel constantly says something that betrays and old school democrat attitude toward either minorities or women. Mostly women. He can’t get past having a good looking woman sitting to his right without throwing a comment out every once in a while that would get a mere mortal canned for harassment.
I’m no Beckel fan either, but, I enjoy seeing liberals getting lambasted based on the absurd politically correct criteria which are used regularly against conservatives.
teach a bunch of Chinamen—Chinese people—...I don’t like Beckel, but where was the slur? I didn’t see no ‘slope’, gook or anything else.
I enjoy Bob Beckel’s comments. Every once in a while he speaks the truth, LOL.
Beckel getting “Honkified”... is sweet entertainment..
Specifically he is an Asian supremacist.
He promoted and voted for a bill, SB-5, that would re-introduce race-based college admissions to California universities after voters had banned it via the proposition process some years ago. He supported the bill up until California Asian voters cried foul, noting correctly, that race-based admission would not just harm White college applicants, but would particularly disadvantage Asian applicants - in favor of less-qualified Hispanics and Blacks.
Then, and only then did Ted Lieu withdraw his support from SB-5.
He was fine with a policy that would harm whites. That was OK with him. But not if it harmed his favored race, Asians.
Ted Lieu's racial pecking order:
