Rick Perry Slams Obama’s Blame Game, Demands National Guard For Border [VIDEO]
The Daily Caller ^ | July 13 2014 | Katie Frates

exas Gov. Rick Perry slammed President Barack Obama on Fox News Sunday, once again demanding the National Guard, and called on Obama to stop the blame game and get up and lead.

Host Brit Hume asked Perry to explain why he wants the National Guard sent to Texas, inquiring skeptically, “What exactly would National Guardsman and women do on the border?”

Perry explained that the National Guard acts as a front-line deterrent for illegal immigrants, and is critically important now, because most border patrol agents are stuck taking care of the illegal immigrant children. “The president was not even aware that his border patrol was back 40 or 45 miles from the border at these checkpoints,” he said. “They need to be right on the ripper, they need to be there as a show of force.”

“This flood of children is pulling away the border patrol from their normal duties of keeping bad people, keeping the drug cartels, they’re being distracted.”

Hume pushed back, questioning how effective the National Guard could be when they aren’t allowed to actually detain anyone. “They’re not, under the law, allowed to apprehend any of these children that are crossing, are they?” Hume asked.

“It’s the visual of it that’s the most important,” Perry countered. “Their conversations are being monitored with calls back to Central America, and the message is ‘hey come on up here, everything is great, they’re taking care of us,’ and that needs to stop.”

Hume then asked if Perry thought the presence of the National Guard would really deter children who have already “made the harrowing journey.”

“Are they really going to be deterred by the presence of troops along the border who won’t shoot them, and can’t arrest them?”

“What we’re talking about is sending the message back now to staunch the bleeding,” Perry replied. “Those that are already here, to address them, to humanitarily [sic] take care of them, to make sure they are safe — to reunite them with their families — that is the most humanitarian thing we can do.”

Perry again stressed the necessity of the National Guard to help get border patrol agents back to their actual jobs. “Right now, reports of up to 70 percent of them [border patrol] are taking care of these young people who have come in, rather than do their job of securing the border.”

Hume brought up President Obam, and his hope that Perry would “put the heat” on the Texas congressional delegation to pass “this nearly $4 billion dollar measure” that he is proposing.

And Perry had some choice words for the president.

“Very little of it [the bill] is for border security. And I think until he gets realistic about the problem and how you deal with the problem, and it is a border security issue, and we’ve got a track record now of five plus years of him disregarding what is going on on the border, so here’s his opportunity to truly lead,” Perry declared.

“Don’t blame this on anyone. Be a leader, lay out a plan.”

Hume then asked Perry to clarify if he was saying he would disregard the president and not pressure the Texas delegation to pass the bill.

“So in other words, governor, you don’t particularly support the bill, and you’re not going to be encouraging your delegation to pass it. Is that a fair assessment?”

“I think you have distilled the correct answer,” Perry replied.

Texas has spent $500 MILLION in the past decade protecting the border..

Having half of Mehico in TX, I'd say ya'll got ripped off.

In CA we spent many billions too, but it was used to line the pockets of those in government...Kept those lucrative pensions solvent.

It appears Perry’s choice will be to raise taxes to pay for the NG or raise taxes to pay for immigrant children’s upkeep.

Send your NG down to take care of the problem.

Instead of telling Perry what to do, why don 't you put pressure on YOUR congress members to do something!

This is not just a Texas problem!... we are just now getting the blame because illegals are spreading out to other states and people don't like it.

As long as it was perceived as a border state problem, it went ignored by most.

A drop in the bucket compared to what Texans spend each year on government assistance, public services, judicial and law enforcement, education, healthcare and housing for ILLEGAL aliens. And how much is spent each year on financial aid and instate tuition, two things La Raza Rick approves of and defends to this day?

Perry's feigned resistance to this ILLEGAL invasion is just his latest lame attempt to fool the masses into believing he really does oppose it. It may have been effective on Texans but it has not worked on American conservatives as a whole.

That $500 million was just on border patrol.

Our gov't pensions haven't reached the level of yours...yet.

BTW, your guv has been a no-show in all the mess? Have I messed something he's had to say?

These are foreign nationals invading a state of THE UNITED STATES of America. If Oklahomans were invading Texas, then I could see Perry dealing with it. These are foreign nationals. It is Obama’s job to deal with this, and he’s drinking beer and playing pool and going to parties. He has broken the contract he has with the American people. What would anyone, ANYONE, do with an employee who neglected his responsibilities and went drinking beer and playing pool and going to parties? They would fire him. But the Democrats stick up for Obama? He was playing golf on Saturday. He’s just giving every American citizen the finger.

“F**k you! Try to make me work! Nyeah! Nyeah!”

This isn’t politics and it isn’t racism. This is an employee blowing off his job. He’s drawing pay without earning it. That’s a theft of hard-earned American taxpayer money. Obama is now just a worthless slug.

Like Perry, California’s governor is a pro-ILLEGAL alien liberal who has contributed to the influx of ILLEGALs into his state by giving them handouts in the form of financial aid and instate tuition. Even as liberal as he was, Schwarzenegger, the last Republican to occupy the office, did call up the NG and did so twice.

Yes, he announced welcoming committees and border patrol escorts for all the illegals pouring in from Texas.

If Perry is doing such a horrible job, I trust you are spending equal time putting pressure on your congress members to do something about it, as you are spending evaluating Perry's motives and job performance.

If you think any illegal, especially these illegals, are coming to Texas for instate tuition, you're just plain stupid!...and diverting attention from the problem at hand doesn't help the situation one damn bit.

Apparently you think making insulting remarks REALLY helps the problem, or you really don't care as long as you have something to ridicule and mouth off about. Which is what you are known for. You have been harping on the same topics for YEARS...you sound like a broken record! Obviously you haven't learned anything in the past 3 years!

If you don't have something constructive to say, STFU.

And Parkland hospital up in Dallas delivers more babies of illegal aliens than any other hospital in the U.S. It’s like a 1,000 per month...

And all this means what?

I know. I live in Texas. He can get an increase in sales tax and, according to him, he has some control over property taxes. That’s what he ran on when he first ran.

BTW, calling up the NG under Obama is a far cry from any time before.

Tell us what you know about a guv calling up the NG. (psssst! It has nothing to do with instate tuition...just so you know.)

Stick your defensive territorial misplaced pride up in the shade somewhere….really, so friggin defensive you've taken leave of your senses. You idiot you can't send anyone elses National Guard BUT Texas - and it isn't about blaming Texas. Get out of middle school dude. Really. This is a great great opportunity for Rick Perry to look Presidential, and open up a national discussion that is needed. I don't need your phony immature defensiveness.

Firstly, I refuse to follow the Perry faithfuls’ lead and take these discussions into the gutter. I allowed that last time around but not again. With that said, I will ignore your personal attacks and focus on the inanity of your comments.

Perry has been luring ILLEGAL aliens into the state of Texas for years with his well-known, well-documented support of them. I realize quite well the Perry faithful choose to either deny or ignore that documented fact but that does not change that it is fact. Moreover, not only did La Raza Rick support taxpayer-subsidized handouts for ILLEGAL aliens, he has condemned as heartless any and all conservatives who disagree with his lame-brained scheme to REWARD the ILLEGAL masses.

And yes, I and others have been telling posters about Perry’s liberal record and will continue to do so as long as he is trying to become my president.

And, since you asked, I regularly write my elected officials and I do so on the local, state and federal levels. The difference is, unlike Perry who is a pro-ILLEGAL alien liberal Republican, most who represent me are pro-ILLEGAL alien liberal democrats, save for Duncan Hunter.

Perry sucks. If you could properly defend his pro-ILLEGAL alien record you would see no need to attack me. Yet you did, and that speaks volumes.

Have a nice day.

I know that! But I am sick and tired of people from other states telling us what we should or should not be doing .

It is as much YOUR problem as it is ours...so talk to you own elected officials and keep your opinion about ours to yourself.

We've put up with illegals for years. A big part of the problem is that congressmen from other states haven't been real big on doing anything about the problem...including some from TX.

Wow, dude, you are way way way off your meds. Where to start…..
A: You really have an unhealthy self image, all tied up in the state where you were born, a great large wealthy state to be sure, but keep in mind, you had nothing to do with Texas’ success.
B: In case it hadn’t crossed your short horn mind, Rick Perry is a national politician. He ran for PResident in 12, and probably will in 16. I will comment on him at any time I want to. Get over it.
C: Yes it’s a national problem, and areas are rising up not to accept these kids - from California to Virginia and others.
D: I can walk and chew gum at the same time. I can ask Rick Perry to call out the guard AND I can urge my local officials to do what is right. Maybe you can’t think about more than one thing at a time.
E: And again, you had nothing to do with Texas’ greatness….and Texas doesn’t need your tantrums online to protect it.
