Most employees believe they have no say when it comes to changes in the workplace that directly affect their jobs.
Six out of ten corporate staff said they have little or no input in decisions which affect them personally at work, according to a recent survey by Strayer University and Ipsos.
Those over 35 felt their opinions mattered less than those workers aged 18-34 - although perhaps that's just a healthy dose of cynicism that comes from spending longer on the corporate ladder.

Then become the boss or find another job or start your own business or just shut up.
The biggest problem is - in the ongoing Baraqqi Depression, employees have little leverage.
If you’re working at some type of “career” job, the employer has most all the leverage these days.
Do people no longer get the concept of the word “employment”, or “job”? This is an entitlement and/or union caused attitude.
You pay the company’s overhead, and taxes, and the you can decide!
Could it be that even the employers have little say, either
You’re getting paid. Shut up or open your own business.
Years ago I had a young office clerk who left me a small note thanking me for the opportunity to work and learn in the year or so that she was with us.
Her one criticism was that she thought the employees would work better if there wasn't so many rules. She thought workers should be allowed to make more decisions on their own.
A couple of years later I heard she was on drugs and working as a dancer.
Guess you must be retired, or you wouldn't have written something so asinine.
You see, these days managers want you to take "responsibility" for everything from production to safety, BUT they want you to do it WITHOUT and "decision rights."
Sadly, many workers actually buy into this charade.
This study might mean something if they’d report the results cut between pubic and private business ownership. “Corporate” is a meaningless term - hell I’ve got once corporation with only myself as an employee. I guarantee you the feeling of having no control is substantially greater in publicly-held corporations than in privately-held ones. The expectation of shareholders to show quarter-over-quarter improvement has led public companies to rob their for the sake of the present on a regular basis.
Anyone who has worked for a public company knows what I’m saying. And this is why most people who leave swear they’d rather be unemployed or change professions than go to another similar job in another large public company.
I have, and it's going along swimmingly.
And BECAUSE I know what a healthy business looks like, I can recognize businesses that run more like government than the engine of prosperity that made this country great.
Only an idiot manager would consistently overrule the recommendations of a worker who has been doing the same job longer than the manager has been alive.
If you want more control, start your own business.
You’ll soon find that the wonderful ‘control’ comes with a hell of a lot of responsibility and stuff you’re really rather not be doing at all (like doing the government’s paperwork for them) and putting up with whiny employees.
I worked at 3 companies who have since closed the place. One is out of business and 2 relocated. I learned to save money for the next one. So far I am lucky with the current job but have seen thousands lose their jobs from here since 2009. Microsoft is about to fire 5% to 10% soon. More to follow.
Changes And Possibly Layoffs Are Coming For Microsoft Employees

CEO Nadella is creating something he calls “Data and Applied Science” for every product team. He has been with the company since 1992.
Microsoft should not be lobbying for more H1-b visas.
Will they still claim there is a shortage of tech workers?
I’ve worked jobs like that. They want you to take all the responsibility but have no decision making ability.
I quit.
Smart business owners know how to walk that fine line. Others have high turnover (and many seem fine with that).
You are conflating "Corporate" with "Owner."
In a Corporation, the managers are almost always employees with no more "ownership" that the rank and file.
“Then become the boss or find another job or start your own business or just shut up.”
100% correct!!!!
When I sign the paychecks, you do as told, period!!!
They have no say because they are not bosses.
They get paid to work, not manage their own jobs. If they excel, they will be promoted and be given decision authority.
Feel free to start your own company, then.
Your naiveté' is amusing.
From my experience, I worked for a bank and let me tell you my coworkers and I have given ideals to run the department sufficiently. During meetings we gave suggestions to management what we believe can make our department more productive. Well we did that only to fall on deaf ears and guess what? My former department has had huge loses and the small staff is overburden with work. Yet they continue with having more loses. I say good riddance. My department will eventually implode. It is not that we want to run the department but we want to improve it and if the boss refuse to hear ideals well “Go Embrace The Suck”. Now being laid off (which I am glad) like I said they had huge loses and they have a high turnover rate. If I was management or the boss it would not hurt to get new ideals to help the company grow and prosper. Many like to run a company as if Obama is running it “My way or the Highway”.
