Rep. Lee Perry, R-Perry, speaks with reporters after Utah residents weighed in on whether they want their state to become the third nationwide
to opt out of daylight saving time during a debate at the Clark Planetarium Thursday, July 10, 2014, in Salt Lake City.
Among the participants expected are shopkeepers, parents, educators and farmers. (AP Photo/Rick Bowmer)
Indiana goes thru this time rangle about every 8 years; too!
Spring back and fall over.
Ding, ding, ding.... We a a winner!
It might be more palatable even if you have to draw half hour time zones. New England and the Atlantic Seaboard can be Eastern time. Pittsburgh, Ohio and points to the north and south can be a half hour earlier and be called East Central time or whatever. And so forth.
Calling it daylight savings time is stupid anyway because it doesn't save any daylight, it just moves it. There is a certain economic argument for daylight savings time because more people get up late than get up early. But call it something else.
If businesses LOSE so much money; why can’t THEY change their opening hours?
why mess the REST of us up?
Father told me several times that one of his ambitions in the hereafter was to look up Franklin D. Roosevelt in hell and twist his head around 360 degrees every spring and fall in honor of his marvelous invention.
Nice. I’ll send that to our governor. The Hoosier state used to be sensible in such matters, then all the soccer moms and other twits got together and whined about it.
If ya want DST, fine. Just do it year round. Personally, I always thought, based upon geography, that we should be more in the central TZ. Being in the Eastern ST zone year round, basically put us on central DST year round.
I thought it was a win win.
I spend a lot of daylight time outdoors, and can usually get the time right within 30 minutes or so just by judging were the sun is - in the winter. DST messes me up in the summer.
