Hes busy with fundraisers today and probably bowling or miniature golf or something, but hes going to squeeze in a few brief remarks on why hes not much interested in summarily deporting the hundreds of thousands of illegals who are on their way from Central America.
You ready? The long-awaited tarmac handshake with Perry is already on the books:
(Excerpt) Read more at hotair.com ...
I remember during Katrina when the press was all over Bush for not sending in the National Guard ... and Bush said he was waiting for a call from the governor.
I thought so. Thanks.
Perry just might do it.
LOL! Guess I missed hearing that. The only affiliates which
carried it in my area were CBS and NBC and I think they cut it off early.
His claim that he and Governor Perry weren't that far apart was weird.
So Perry can call up the Texas National Guard?
I get a kick out of how Obama is so adamant about needing the billions of dollars to secure our same borders that he insisted were absolutely secure in 2012.
BOOM!
Cruz nails it once again.
“If you want your border, you can’t keep your border.”
BINGO! that’s exactly why he wants the money..
It’s what I’m praying for...the power of group prayer is a strong one.
These “children” are predominantly male and over 14. It is one reason why Obama doesn’t want photos or interviews. Any visits must be scheduled and approved.
It’s my understanding the governor can call up the Texas State Guard and or the Texas State militia.
And the reporter who asked why he ..... yeah. I forgot, those were not reporters, they were minions
this is what will happen and he wants.
First get the kids here illegally and then let the parents come in after saying we cannot break up families.
Mark my words that is what will happen.
Just got back from seeing the "America" D'Souze movie.....that quote about 'fundamentally change Amerika" got good play.
For what it's worth, for a noon matinee on a 110 degree day, there was good attendance - and applause at the wrap.
There were like 60,000 “minors” out of about 300,000 who crossed. The adults are not showing up for their hearings either. There are probably going to be millions more coming this year and next. Border is wide open for them.
What day was Cruz on Levin’s show? I want to download the show.
Federal Activation
Under the 1933 National Guard Mobilization Act, the president could only activate the Guard following an emergency declaration by Congress, but the Armed Forces Reserve Act of 1952 removed that requirement, allowing the president to activate the Guard with the consent of the governor. Generally, federalized Guard units serve in combat zones and overseas disaster relief missions. When federalized, Guard members fall under the jurisdiction of the Uniform Code of Military Justice and may receive medical benefits under TRICARE, the military’s health insurance program.
State Activation
To maintain a Guard unit, state constitutions must authorize them. While the exact procedures vary, state governors have the power to activate their state’s guard units, and members operate under the state’s National Guard regulations. Generally, governors use Guard units to assist in disaster relief, but in 2010 the governor of Puerto Rico activated the Guard to assist law enforcement with a crime wave on the island
The most important part to remember is that Article 4 Section 4 of the Constitution states:
The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence.
It is the first responsibility of the federal government, not the states, to protect the states borders. In the event they don’t the states and the citizen act to protect themselves.
Obama is refusing to do his job in respect to this situation (and many many others)
