How can Israel have peace if it’s unwilling to delineate a border, end the occupation?’ asks White House Mideast chief, Phillip Gordon, in a blistering Tel Aviv speech.
Israel’s ongoing occupation of the West Bank is wrong and leads to regional instability and dehumanization of Palestinians, a top American government official said Tuesday in Tel Aviv, hinting that the current Israeli government is not committed to peace.
In an unusually harsh major foreign policy address, Philip Gordon, a special assistant to US President Barack Obama and the White House coordinator for the Middle East, appealed to Israeli and Palestinian leaders to make the compromises needed to reach a permanent peace agreement. Jerusalem “should not take for granted the opportunity to negotiate” such a treaty with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, who has proven to be a reliable partner, Gordon said.

Though his characterization as refusal is incorrect, I agree with Phillip Gordon. Who has never had a job outside of academia, classic Obama. As I've stated many times over the years I've been here, Israel should delineate a border. Not my choice where it is, though I think the Joint Chiefs back in LBJ's day were correct, it clearly should include about half of the "West Bank", the high ground. Retaining part of the Sinai is no longer possible, it's al Qaida territory now. Somehow I don't think those are the borders Phil was relating to. But no matter, Israel should declare them. Annex the land Israel needs for defense, and define the status of those living in un annexed areas.
I have an idea Phillip wouldn't like, they could be "citizens" of the "territories" Kind of like us Americans do it. No, you don't get to vote in Federal elections. No, not citizens, maybe in the future, maybe not. Nationality, I'd say Jordanian, or Syrian, or Egyptian. But that's a different topic, as it has been here in the States.

About you personally I cannot speculate, but I’ve seen heartbreakingly too much treating of eschatology as a spectator event, as something more akin to fate than to prediction. Like OMG look how things are falling apart, ergo judgment is coming, ergo we should just duck-and-cover in our prayer closets.
That attitude should have been obviated once and for all when Christ asked whether He would find faith on the earth when He returns. That is an obvious hint that NO, He won’t. We are responsible for part of our judgment when we drop faith on the floor.
Okaaaay.... Let’s see Mr. Big Dog make a similar speech hammering the Palestinians... On THEIR side of the fence.
