Union moron.
hmmmm just how much should we pay a person who does nothing but clean bathrooms.
How much would she pay someone to clean her bathroom?
Wait till that $15/hour wage goes through and she’s out of a job or her hours are cut. Can’t wait to hear the tune she sings then.
Between his church and the government job he has, he’s living in a nice little socialist utopia there.
That $15/hour salary is certainly going to change things a lot, for the half or more of the workers who will find themselves out of work.
Tax Eaters are the worst
I always wonder about people working these dead end jobs at a school. Do they ever put 2 and 2 together?
“But I just learned thats going to change. SEIU Local 99, the union that represents me and more than 30,000 other school workers here, just negotiated a new contract that will raise my pay to $15 per hour by 2016.”
Uh, no.
The school just said “whatever” and passed the bill to the tax payers of the school district.
So you just picked the pockets of a bunch of working people so you can scrub toilets and clean up some kid’s puke for more than some people with college degrees are able to make.
Eventually you will run out of other people’s money and you will have more time to spend with your kid.
That zombie’s pathetic wages are a result of the fact that: a) The teachers union is sucking all of the oxygen out of the room in terms of compensation and b) the illegals that his/her union supports have driven the market value of his services even lower. There are lots of janitorial services that pay their employees better than this, do a better job, and don’t take dues out of their employees’ paychecks to boot.
Purely coincidental he is Hispanic, and Raul, no, no coincidence.
I wonder if Raul will be as happy being laid off, because at $15.00 an hour his school district can only afford half as many janitors as before?
CC
P.S. I started out cleaning bathrooms, too. I , however was not satisfied in doing that for the rest of my life and have worked to acheive more. Perhaps Raul should consider that.
So in TEN years this doofus didn’t try to better himself? He had 6 years before his child ws born and he didn’t take night classes or do anything to get a better job?
In 10 YEARS he couldn’t get promoted at a union job??
and this story was supposed to make us feel sorry for him?
Wages go up, dues go up. Net result?
It will change the amount of welfare he receives (it will go down), and it will change the cost of the things he buys, and if he's really unlucky he will experience REAL change.. the loss of his job.
In the end, he will be worse off than he was, mark my words.
The headline write calls a per hour rate a “salary”?
They will cut the hours to make up the difference.
Non union janitors were making 10 to 15 dollars an hour at my high school back in the 80s.
Its gonna raise costs in private sector businesses. Evidence, last weekend I bought 2 books for $20 4 years ago I could buy 3 for $20 and 6 years ago I could buy 4 books for $15
If I was a senior citizen on a fixed income, I’d be getting worried just about now...
And you'll notice that Raul isn't being paid these bucks by a private-sector firm. No, it's a school district.
Nothing spends as easy as someone else's money.
