“The View” host Sheri Shepherd reportedly wants “nothing to do” with her unborn child now that her marriage has folded. Shepherd reportedly used IVF to conceive a child with her husband Lamar Sally but now is not interested in caring for the baby, who is being carried by a surrogate mother.
This story demonstrates one of the problems with in-vitro fertilization. The first problem for the pro-life movement is that the surrogate mother or the egg donor could decide they no longer want to carry the pregnancy to term and decide to terminate the unborn child’s life in an abortion.
But the second problem is in this type of situation where the egg donor changes her mind about the child. Then questions crop up about who will raise the child and whether the baby will have to be put up for adoption or placed in the foster care system — something that is less likely to happen in a natural pregnancy situation.
According to the London Daily Mail:
And according to TMZ, the 47 year-old has no genetic connection to the infant who was conceived through IVF with an egg donor and her estranged husband’s sperm.
Sources told the website on Saturday that she believes her TV writer ex defrauded her into having a child so he could get child support – knowing full well he was planning to file for divorce.
The pair first tried IVF with her own eggs but when that failed they opted to use donor egg with Lamar’s sperm and a surrogate to carry the pregnancy, the source added.
But now, according to TMZ, the former The View host does not want to be considered a parent because she does not want to take financially responsibility.
And the website reports she allegedly wants a judge to rule she has no parental rights for the baby due at the end of the month.
Two weeks ago Lamar tried to get their whole divorce case sealed in court to prevent his wife of three years talking publicly about the marriage breakdown.
A judge said Sherri can chat about her divorce as much as she wants, but she can’t reveal the name and whereabouts of the woman carrying the couple’s child, TMZ reported.
Lamar is also worried that too many people at the hospital when their surrogate gives birth could hurt the baby.
No circumstance, no purpose, no law whatsoever can ever make licit an act which is intrinsically illicit, since it is contrary to the Law of God which is written in every human heart, knowable by reason itself, and proclaimed by the Church.
Speechless.
Since she is a rabid liberal, I’d expect her to go to court and demand an abortion for the surrogate.
Preach it, Brother.
Well . . . isn’t she an icon of virtue? /sarc
Each day brings news of some greater demonic horror. I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that this dreadful individual wants the child to be killed. I don’t know this to be the case; I just wouldn’t be surprised.
And if the surrogate mother wanted to keep the child? What would happen then?
Absolute douchebaggery...
Hopefully the surrogate got her money up front so she can sell the baby to somebody else.
Otherwise, this is good, liberals shouldn’t have babies.
feel the love, mama
Leftists like this should not be allowed to breed.
I guess she doesn’t want to be punished with a child.

Invetro abortion.
What a vile loathesome scum.
Doesn’t surprise me in the least.
Best thing for the baby to find an adoptive home.
A suit for child support. It would be interesting to see how The View comes down on this, as they are a big supporter of women's issues and defender against the War on Women.
I condemn all forms of artificial baby-making. If gays want children, they can ADOPT!
BTW, there is no such thing as a surrogate baby.
Also, no such thing as a surrogate mother. You’re a mother, or you’re not.
The surrogate mother should sue her for child support. Now that I think about it, this whole thing may just be a way for her to pawn off the child support responsibilities onto her husband/donor.
