Richard Kopf, a senior United States district judge in Nebraska, thinks the Supreme Court needs to learn when to "stfu."
Kopf made the recommendation in a post on his personal blog July 5, where he argued the recent Hobby Lobby ruling demonstrated the high court's need to stay away from "hot button cases."

Smooth move. Kopf wil soon discover that this was a career-ending move.
I don’t know who he is. But somehow, I like him.
Judge Kopf must be a Liberal. He’s got a mouth, and that’s all they need.
The Supreme Court oversees all the other Federal courts. Did this guy miss that at orientation?
Not even a phone and a pen?
Hot button.
OK.
It’s nine dollars per month for a woman to pay for her own birth control, no one is denying her that.
NO one.
So, the fact that birth control has risen to the level for heat on the Supreme Court that the entirety of Obamacare did, one has to ask, what is it about birth control that is so powerful?
Talk about a hypocrite.
I think this guy’s first name is Sheist. Goes really well with Kopf!
Hobby Lobby already pays for 16 contraceptives,
What the employees need to pay for are their own abortifacients and abortions.
Richard Kopf?
Dick Head?................
So you don't like that the Supreme Court ruled in Hobby Lobby's favor?
Hobby Lobby decision aside (which I do not think should have gone to the SC, i.e., their rights should have been apparent long before that), any time somebody tells this lopsided SC to STFU is a plus for me.
When I was paralegal back in my college days, I remember a local Circuit Court case where a lawyer brought up a recent Supreme Court ruling and the presiding judge cut him off by saying, “I don’t care what the Supreme Court says, this is my courtroom and my rules are the only thing you need to worry about.”
That's what they pay the "press" for.
he just opened himself up for recusal in every case before him.
As another FReeper noted, it has nothing to do with BC. The case was on abortion inducing drugs.
This is classic Democrat misdirection and bald faced lying. It’s also classic dumb ass Republicans who can’t point out the difference between BC and abortion. Once the egg is fertilized, it’s abortion, regardless of the method used to kill it. That’s not a minor distinction.
When you look at the length of the written decisions of the Supreme Court, you have to agree with this sentiment. The opinion could have been a one page affirmation of the lower court decision and instead it turns into a 100 page dissertation on the history and politics of the RIFRA. It was a simple decision but with every new word inserted into the opinion, they give ammunition to both sides to continue the battle.
Yes, indeed sometimes, if not most of the time, the Supreme Court needs to just STFU.
They think that with their much speaking they will be more clearly heard, but as they babble on they simply lose listeners.
It is not necessary to write 100 pages just because you like the sound of your own voice.
