Mugabe, reelected last summer to his fifth consecutive term,
“There are white farmers who are still on the land and have the protection of some cabinet ministers and politicians as well as traditional leaders. That should never happen. They [whites] were living like kings and queens on our land and we chucked them out. Now we want all of it.”
At the turn of the century Mugabe, a former guerrilla leader, unleashed waves of violent land acquisition by war veterans aligned to his political party. Thousands of white commercial farmers were forced out under a so-called “indigenization” land reform policy.
Since then, Zimbabwe has been in an economic tailspin, with banks collapsing and with the government unable to pay the wages of many in the civil sector.
Much of the land previously taken by those in the Mugabe regime has benefited the security, police and military wings of the leader’s circle.

At the end of the British Rule and during the time it was called Rhodesia, this area was a food exporter with very productive farms and ranches. The odds say that there has to be at least some successful native farmers now but Mugabe will destroy them along with the rest of the country as he sells it to the Chinese. Failing Despots reach out to their peers and China has the money.
Mugabe needs the white farmers to blame for his failures. Before Mugabe Rhodesia was the breadbasket of Africa, producing much more food than they consumed. Now the country is in economic ruin and at one time had 1000% inflation PER DAY.
It's like putting a "No Swimming" sign in front of a cesspool.
So basically its going back to the barbaric shitehole it was before whites controlled the country just like South Africa and Kenya.
A lot of the Rhodesian farmers relocated to Zambia and Mozambique where they were actively recruited by the national government to produce badly needed food the locals just weren’t up to growing. The farmers put conditions on their relocation, however, only short-term leases on the land, no ownership and a quick escape route in case things turn sour. Mugabe has done very well in all this, he is a major league thief who has squirreled billions abroad, a typical “communist” first among equals with an emphasis on the “first”.
Several families of Rhodesian farmers move to the Houston area too. One of them lived next door to my brother. They had some scary stories to tell.
