Hundreds of people gathered at BBC Scotland's headquarters in Glasgow to protest over the corporation's coverage of the referendum.
The protestors claimed an "unhealthy bias" existed in favour of the pro-Union Better Together campaign.
Organiser Moira Williams said there was "increasing discontent" about the way the independence campaign was being represented by the BBC.
However, the BBC said its referendum coverage was "fair and accurate".
The Scottish independence referendum takes place on 18 September 2014.
Voters will answer the Yes/No question: "Should Scotland be an independent country?"

What part of British Braodcastin Corporation might give Ms. Williams a clue?
I doubt Scottish independence will enhance Scottish individual freedom. Scotland passed the most restrictive anti-smoking law in Europe, and is proud of it.
The BBC is anti-UKIP as well and filled with left wing drivel although I read its website and watch its news everyday, knowing its bias in advance.
Proud simply because they beat England to it. More frightening is that their “leaders” have no clue how the country will make it economically after independence. Highly unlikely after years of dependency and socialism they will embrace making the country an economic free haven.
Nope.
The SNP are avowed socialists just hiding behind Scottish Highland mythology of being tough guys about to stick it to England as if the Act of Union was some military take over by London.
The SNP is also warm to the EU, no?
They’ve said that it would be paid for with oil money from the North Sea.
Good luck squaring that with the greens that are also pushing for secession.
Yes. They are banking on a quick admission, totally selling out independence before they even have it!
Yet the pro-independence people think the UK's immigration policy is too restrictive. The UK is teeming with Muslim immigrants. The Scottish independence people want more of it.
Aside from that, the Scotch and tourism industries have a great future, and probably the knowledge-based sector based on the continuing high quality of higher Ed. In fact shrinking the financial sector would probably be a good thing - freeing up some bright people to do productive things instead.
I am sure the Statists in the UK and EU are quite nervous..
a Scottish independence vote will shake things up
Scotland is toast. All of the cool Scots are over here and in Canada.
Scots know that an independent Scotland would be a fiscal basket case from day one.
Do you even know what the Scottish National Party stands for?
Clearly you don't.
Its goal is to make Scotland the most obedient and compliant client state of the EU.
The BBC isn’t left enough for them probably.
Independent (yeah right) Scotland is going to be a basketcase
Scotland has also passed a law that will give every child a government-assigned monitor, since parents cannot be trusted.
“Independence” while still attached to the EUSSR is a joke
