The Supreme Court has ruled that Hobby Lobby and other closely held for-profit corporations can opt out of the Affordable Care Act's provisions for no-cost prescription contraception in most health insurance plans. The companies' owners had objected on the grounds of religious freedom.
The ruling affirms a Hobby Lobby victory in a lower court and gives new standing to similar claims by other companies...

I hadn’t considered the gay marriage/cake baker cases. Very good news.
It is up for consideration because it is the most relevant issue we have
It is very destructive and powerful
That the court decided against it is likely indicative of the logic
No one should be forced to participate in or pay for contraception
And it is a huge issue not an insignificant one
They did go for an emergency hearing. If I find out anything I will post it.
I chose my words poorly. What I meant is that at what point do we NOT stay a free society. I would say sometime around 1913 when the income tax was ratified.
Regardless, what could be more problematic than a Federal Government that inserts itself in between a person and every aspect of his interaction with others. From their employers, to their churches, to anything else.
Of course it is relevant. However the fact that it is relevant is frightening as Hell from a liberty standpoint!
According to Catholic News Agency, the Hobby Lobby decision, which applies to for-profit businesses, won’t necessarily affect the Irondale nonprofit TV network.
EWTN’s filing came 10 days after a U.S. District Court Judge ruled against the network. Without an injunction, EWTN would be forced to offer contraception to its employees as part of its health care plan beginning July 1.

I’m overjoyed and stunned. This is so critical!
Don’t know, but my understanding is that Hobby Lobby fought for not having to supply/participate in abortion inducing contraception.
The Catholic view (EWTN) is that they don’t want to be involved in any form of artificial contraception.
If they are blatant about their religious beliefs, I will not spend money with that business. I'd already trended that way, this just seals it.
Living in the Deep South, many companies do plaster crosses, those stupid fish, or "God Bless America" all over their company ads, vehicles, and locations. If I see any of that, I will turn away and look for another place to spend my money.
I am an atheist - used to be an apathetic agnostic but I am being driven more and more away from not caring about religion to caring very much how it is being FORCED on every aspect of my life. These so-called Christians are pissing me off big time!
This is this is the face of the enemy.
That was delicious.
Oral contraception to PREVENT ovulation is a good thing unless one has religious objections. Saying they allow women “... to act as irresponsibly about their sexuality as sailors on shore leave...” is not a religious objection. Sounds more like ‘most women would be sluts if given a chance.’
Yes, there are other ways to prevent fertilization. That’s how I ended up with my third child at 36. Then I went fail safe: had my tubes tied and had a tubal pregnancy at 38.
I used the pill off & on during my fertile years. Wasn’t a slut & paid for it out of pocket.
I was a toddler, but I still miss it.
I just hear well tail end of the story props to Hobby Lobby
This drive Obama admsation up the wall Hobby Lobby got over on them this President he seem the type you better pay to attention this dear leader
What about the baker and his choosing not to bake cakes for certain weddings?
That sounds slightly saner than my neighbor komrade Larry. He writes some real wacko letters to the state newspaper and local free times.
As well you SHOULD pay for it out of your own pocket!
That is the point.
As for fail safe. A tubal pregnancy caused by tubal ligation is hardly fail safe. What it was was a potential deadly medical condition caused by the tubal ligation.
The safest way to prevent pregnancy is to understand female fertility and abstain from sexual intercourse during the time that a woman is fertile. Beyond that, the use of massive artificial chemical hormones not only can effect women’s health negatively. They leach into our water supply and effect the fertility and life of others in the society.
Believe it. Contraception is the well dressed step child of abortion. It is because of the widely accepted use of contraception and the idea of ‘wanted’ and ‘unwanted children’ that abortion is not only widely available, but morally acceptable to so many people.
” Sounds more like most women would be sluts if given a chance.”
Based on abortion rates, out of wedlock births and almost unanimous polls on sexual attitudes it seems that if not MOST women, certainly a large percentage of women are little more than sluts NOW!
BTW. The failure rate for oral contraception is between 1-5%.
If 1 - 5 of every plane that was flown crashed, how many people would be flying?
Abortion is the fail safe of contraception. It is utilized by a third of all American women over the course of a lifetime and by over a million women every year.
1-5 of 100 planes.
I think it’s pretty sad that our side has been beaten back to where THIS is a battle we’re desperately trying to win. The SCOTUS, and CJ Roberts specifically, dealt a terrible blow to our formerly free country.
Prediction: Obama will make a statement that he will use whatever executive power he can to insure women have access to health care.
That would be the next test, wouldn't it? The fact that the decision was narrow doesn't mean it can't be applied to a larger context, it's just that it's as-yet untested in that context.
