McDaniel Unveils Another Strategy Against Thad Cochran
The Daily Caller ^ | June 30, 2014 | Neil Munro

Posted on 06/30/2014 4:50:41 AM PDT by don-o

Volunteers working for tea party challenger Chris McDaniel in Mississippi say they have already found 20 percent of the invalid double-votes they need to cancel Sen. Thad Cochran’s business-funded runoff victory.

“We’re finished with Hinds County, and we’re up to 1,500” invalid votes, said Noel Fritsch, Daniel’s press aide.

That’s critical because McDaniel can force another runoff if he can find more invalid votes than Cochran’s roughly 7,000-vote margin-of-victory on June 24. Votes are invalidated if voters cast ballots in both the Democrats’ June 3 primary and the GOP’s run-off on June 24.

However, McDaniel can also force another election even if he can’t find 7,000 invalid ballots, said Fritsch.

“We don’t have to prove that we have 7,000 [invalid] votes…. all there needs to be is enough doubt about the election, and we’re confident about that,” he said.

That “cancel by doubt” strategy gives the McDaniel campaign an incentive to collect evidence about possible vote-buying and other potentially unethical behavior by Cochran’s campaign.

So far, there are many reports about shady outreach to Democratic voters supposedly undertaken by Cochran and his allies, particularly done by relatives of former Gov. Haley Barbour.

For example, The Daily Caller reported that Henry Barbour, the head of the Mississippi Conservatives PAC and the nephew of Haley Barbour, paid Democratic operative Mitzi Bickers “to make paid calls to potential Cochran supporters.” Those calls may have spurred many loyal Democrats to cast invalid votes.

In the search for improper votes, GOP officials who are affiliated with Cochran’s campaign are trying to block McDaniel’s search for invalidated votes that are recorded in the poll books, Fritsch said.

However, 19,000 absentee voters cast ballots in the GOP run-off, and many of those votes may be improper, say McDaniel’s allies.

"It isn't over until after the election. Cochran MUST be destroyed.

Never count your chickens before they have hatched. MCDANIEL
should campaign like he is ten points behind! The surest
ways to lose is to think and act like you are going to
win big.

FWIW, I don't think it's a bad comparison at all. After Katrina, a lot of jobs went to foreign labor. Any constitutional conservativee who wants to win has to demand EVerify and that non-citizens in the US illegally be sent home.

Some people here argue that poor people who vote dem don't want jobs. I don't agree. Even if that were true, people do want opportunity, and the invasion of the US takes away that.

"rally the White base"??? Whoa...is that you, Haley?

Yes, the WHITE VOTER. There, I said it. Call Al Sharpton. Parties are allowed to "target" Blacks, Hispanics, Gays, Women, etc. But NOT the White majority, which opposes amnesty by 87%? Why?

you have now taken the lead in “dumb post of the day” award…...

Good. And I am doubling down! As someone who donated $450 to McDaniels campaign over the past 3 months, I am PISSED that he KNEW Cochran would target Blacks (as Star Parker noted, his manager said as much the day after the primary vote), and did NOTHING to counter that effort by targeting WHITE voters by tying Cochran to the border invasion, as Dave BRat did (and the border chaos was a just a fraction what it is now when Cantor got shredded).

I think you’re way off base on a number of accounts, including the stupid assumption that McDaniel is not in favor or e verify. Your faith in e verify is kind of silly too, as is your faith in the work ethic of the american laborer.

But most of all, joining in any criticism here of McDaniel is just absurd, given the incredible lengths the GOP e went to beat him. McDaniel POLLED MORE RAW VOTES and MORE REPUBLICAN % in the run off than he did in the primary. Thus any criticism of him is just frankly worthless and useless.

You’re dumb and getting dumber - you refuse to understand the difference between a state and a district (kind of stupid) and you refuse to understand the difference between Cantor and Cochran on immigration (over your head on political issues) and you fail to acknowledge that McDaniel polled better in the run off than he did in the primary, meaning he DID get his vote out. Just not quite enough to over come the 35 thousand Democrats.

You are so so so so so over your head here.

I'm not going to blame the victim (McDaniels)

There are no victims in politics. Just winners and losers. And McDaniels is a loser. I am sick of Mark Levin's whining like a parent of a beauty pageant runner-up. The GOPe is pure evil -- they must be destroyed, with every tool in our kit. Why is Dave Brat the only conservative willing to use the AMNESTY megaissue to shred the RINO douchebags?

The RHINOs should be extinct with these kind of tactics.

Who’s going to vote for a guy whose campaign just called you a racist?

Or just incited the 'poor and underprivileged' to commit voter fraud.

He isn't your thickness….but again, how obtuse can you remain. Cantor was a prime amnesty target because he is one of the national leaders in that push. Cochran is not. Second, what makes you think amnesty wasn't part of the McDaniel message? And third, in a rural state, lot of voters are not has hot to trot on deport as you are.

You've been schooled, but "learnt" nothing.

The left has stoked our animosity towards that “class” of folks on purpose, you know.

And they hate us just as much because we “want to take it away from them”.

-- There is precedent posted on another thread by a Freeper that described how a Mayor's election was overturned not by invalidating votes to reach a margin but by drawing attention to tactics that violated law. --

Both elements were present in that race. The original margin of victory was 37.

"Ware has proven with mathematical certainty that more than 37 votes for DuPree were illegal and must be excluded from the certified totals," the motion reads, citing the 68 jail and elderly ballots solicited by the mayor's wife, Johniece DuPree, as well as 375 illegally cast absentee ballots.

um... how can he prove who they voted for?

I don't think they can. It would require an election re-do.

Oh, I know. This class warfare tactic has been being played on the Americans people for quite some time now.

And the only beneficiary is the government.

I'm not a "naysayer" about McDaniels and no longer even want a Republican US Senate at this time unless McDaniels is the nominee.

That being said, I firmly believe that supporting EVerify and calling for invader labor to be sent home is what wins elections. I'm not doubting that McDaniels is for EVerify, just wondering if he made it a big enough issue.

Great points and something every serious conservative candidate needs to practice. They’ll cheat.

calling for invader labor to be sent home is what wins elections.

Actually, in rural states that depend on migrant labor, it is not really a winner. Now, let me hasten to add that the GOPe position on amnesty doesn't win either - but just like Ellmers winning big in NC, and Walter Jones almost losing - Graham doing well in SC - and some others, perhaps Mississippi, the deport them all now stance does NOT win. People are not going to vote themselves into bankruptcy. I know, no one wants to admit it though.

As for e verify, I think everyone is in favor of that- but you have to be a fool to assume it is going to be the single federal government program that runs well. It won't be. It will have problems for years.
