There are hundreds of freepers who won’t admit there’s a Depression. Weird, to me. They think anybody who is out of a job is a lazy slacker, lol.
Yes there is a depression, but believe me, Nicole Hill is a slacker.
With all due respect, you cannot possibly be defending the star subject of this article, can you?
Depression aside, we have and will have, under Obama and similar governance, these permanent class of people who are nothing but leeches. Half of the entire Democrat voter base is comprised of these people.
Perhaps not lazy slacker, but lazy
There are lots of jobs but the require moving. They might require new skill sets.
Any body wanting a job can learn to drive a truck and get a CDL license.
Anybody can get a job in The Texas and North Dakota oil fields.
Waiting for the old job to return is just lazy excuse for not seeking what is available
Cable TV, yes. Water, no.
I agree but that is only part of the problem here.
no doubt in my mind there is a Depression, a big one
There is a depression going on...that is indisputable fact.
However, persons such as this member of the Free Shit Army have no motivation, and an expectation that because she chose badly that we taxpayers (the ones who still have jobs for now) should bear the costs for her and her offspring.
There are a great many who are unemployed who simply cannot find jobs. At least ones that are in the same pay ranges they are accustomed to. I am presently looking for a new job, and it is near impossible to get another job. You get an interview, but then there is always someone just as qualified, or even more qualified, that they can hire for less than my current salary.
I hadn't thought about it, so lets go to the definition of 'Depression': A severe and prolonged downturn in economic activity. In economics, a depression is commonly defined as an extreme recession that lasts two or more years. A depression is characterized by economic factors such as substantial increases in unemployment, a drop in available credit, diminishing output, bankruptcies and sovereign debt defaults, reduced trade and commerce, and sustained volatility in currency values. In times of depression, consumer confidence and investments decrease, causing the economy to shut down.
1. Prolonged downturn - yes
2. Increased unemployment - yes, if we look at labor force participation
3. Drop in credit - yes for businesses (not for banks)
4. Diminishing output - yes
5. Bankruptcies - yes, plenty
6. Sovereign debt defaults - Greece? Spain?
7. Reduced trade - ?
8. Investment decrease - yes
9. Consumer confidence down - definitely
Okay Miss Marmelstein, maybe an objective opinion is yes, there is an economic depression.
There may be a depression, but the stories in this article aren’t an indication of it. These are symptoms of a completely dysfunctional culture, and are similar to what you find on almost any Indian reservation in North America.
Too many people that aren't working are in fact lazy. When that number is as large as it is, it effects the general outlook.
As my Late Mother always said, “you help people who CAN’T help themselves, not people who WON’T help themselves”.
There are also many FReepers that are out of work or living on a Fixed Income, so what’s your point?
For the price of one of her Tattoos, the Woman in the story could have paid her water bill for a Year.
The idea of having priorities seems to be missing from the storyline. I’m sure her Cell Phone works fine and her Cable TV is hooked up, but maybe she cancelled HBO as a shared sacrifice.
I know I’m in a depression....and I have a job...
I’ve seen it. Shoot, they’ve already come out for you! I can assure you I’m not lazy and I have a degree in a respected scientific field.. But I barely make any $$$ due to lack of jobs. It is a fact. I’d even go to North Dakota but I don’t think they’d have me. Lol
there is definitely a depression, but there are a lot of people who wouldn’t be working if the job offers were desperately flooding their mailboxes daily.
