With the raging war between the Sunni and the Shiites in Iraq, and with the presidents apparent animosity toward the Iraqi government it seems important to understand if Obama has ties to the Sunnis or to the Shiites. Does anyone on FR know the answer to this?

Shiites are pretty brutal in their own right but Sunnis are almost always the ones to blow themselves up.

Given a choice I’d rather deal with the Shiites. There are far fewer of them and they don’t seem to have near as much of an expansionist drive.
On the other hand, they desire the apocalypse so the Mahdi can climb up out of his well.
