Rand Paul on Thad Cochran’s Win: ‘I’m for More People Voting’

Kentucky Senator Rand Paul doesn’t have a problem with Democrats heavily influencing Republican primaries. Paul, a likely contender for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination, refused to criticize Mississippi Sen. Thad Cochran’s campaign efforts to lure Democrats to the polls with race-baiting ads and promises of government handouts. ”I’m for more people voting, not less people voting. I think the people of Mississippi spoke and I think Thad Cochran has done a lot of good things for Mississippi,” Paul told reporters on Wednesday.

What kinds of “good things”? A Tax Foundation study found that Mississippi ranks first in the amount of federal aid as a percentage of state revenue, comprising more than 46% of the state’s income. Sen. Cochran suggested during the campaign that he would like to see the return of earmarks, which lawmakers banned in 2010. Prior to the ban, Cochran steered more earmarks to his state than any other member of Congress.

A blow up doll for Karl Rove, that he can put on the street corner and sell BS talking points.

“I think we have a good personal relationship,” Rand Paul told The Arizona Republic on Friday after appearing at a breakfast fundraiser for his political victory committee at the Scottsdale Silverado Golf Club.

Paul parted with McCain over last year’s Senate-passed bipartisan immigration bill. Paul voted against the comprehensive legislation, which includes a pathway to citizenship for most of the estimated 11 million immigrants in the United States without authorization. McCain was the lead Republican negotiator in the “Gang of Eight” who collaborated on the bill.

“But I am for immigration reform,” Paul told The Republic. “For anybody who wants to work, I think we can find a place for them. And that means even those who are already here.”

Rand, you are a freaking buffoon. You think it’s fine that a man who out-polled his opponent by 25,000 GOP votes should be denied the GOP nomination? If so, you are a witless jerk!

Rand is a doctor. Does he believe that “more people, not less”, should be performing surgery? Anyone with an ounce of sense does NOTTT! want more imbeciles and swindlers voting. Bob

This guy is toast.

He’s on this “big tent” crusade kissing every imaginable ass while applying the boot to conservatives. A real fool.

There is always the possibility that he realizes the electorate is now irretrievably moronic.

Democrats seem to grasp this, and use it to their electoral advantage.

While I'm admittedly being rather facetious, wouldn't it be delicious if, for a change, a constitutional conservative played to the masses to get elected, only to go full-bore with a conservative agenda once in office?

Like stealing a page from the 'rat play book?

While I may be grasping, it would be nice if that's what Rand's up to here.

I’m so sick and tired of all this crap calling for easier voter participation and concerns about voters being disenfranchised. What about all the McDaniel voters who were disenfranchised by democrats being allowed to vote for Cochran in a Republican Runoff?

Here’s a question nobody asks — WHY DOES THE RULES ALLOW DEMOCRATS TO VOTE IN REPUBLICAN PRIMARIES IN THE FIRST PLACE?

And knowing what just happened, what are they going to do about it now?

Yeah, him and Dr. Bashir Assad. Maybe they could open a partnership?

Rand Paul seems more like Biden lately. Open mouth, insert foot.

Rand jumped the shark long ago - done with him. Gimme Ted Cruz, the only potential candidate that truly speaks for me. Mark Levin is another true patriot, who would make a great candidate too, if only he would consider running.

You know I’m for more people voting too, but what I’m not for is this open primary crap! They pushed this through in California also and the only thing it is for is to corrupt the voting process. Apparently Rand doesn’t care about ethics, just quantity. I wonder what his opinion would be if the same tactics were possible in his next election?

“I guess the nut really didn’t fall far from the tree...”

Rand Paul is a carbon copy of the old man, with one big exception. The old man has more integrity than him. The old man didn’t try to be something he’s not. Randy does. He’s a fake and fraud. He’s a libertarian, with the exact same views as the old man, but tries to hide them. Little by little it comes out and people realize he’s as fruity as the old man. Both love to be associated with the “left” and say how they they can get leftists to vote for them.
