Don't buy his populist rhetoric. The new pope is every bit the sexist homophobe as his predecessors...
While the pope transmits a populist vibeparticularly about the economy he is an old-school conservative who, despite his great PR, maintains nearly all of the socialpolicies of his predecessors and keeps up a hardline Vatican cabinet.

I was thinking after I wrote that -
the left is always using the phrase “on the wrong side of history” with regard to our non-acceptance of homosexuality as normal and good.
We may, indeed, be on the “losing” side of HUMAN HISTORY.
But I’d much rather be on the right side of eternity.

I thought that was what you meant, and it’s a good turn of phrase.
However, given the biological epic fail that sodomy is, I think we’re on the right side of human history as well, once the current Silly Season passes ... as it will, as it always has.

What do they want, an atheist, gay pope?
Yea that's it. Anything less will never do for a rag like Salon.

A reading of Romans 1 says that the wrath of God is revealed as... among other things... the acceptance of homosexuality as normal.
It IS judgement.

People like her want a pope who is an arbitrary dictator who has no respect for the foundations and institutional integrity of the church, and will impose his will on it — to their liking, of course. Kind of like an American President they support. I don’t believe a man like that is ever going to be pope.

(and I am not saying I agree with all of Francis’ theology)
Nor he with yours, but when God said “whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life” He did not exclude those whose form of worship varies from yours, or from Catholicism.

Hey liberals! the stuff about man + woman = couple didn’t come from the Pope. It came from human nature, which is reflected in the Bible and in the Church’s teachings.
Sexist? If the Pope doesn’t want woman priests, it’s his right to not have them. He’s the boss.

Do you REALLY think SOLON is an accurate source?
Of course, the Pope is Catholic and holds a hard line to Catholic teaching.

A better term is “staurophobe”.
A staurophobe is a person who has a pathological fear/hatred of the Cross of Christ and especially of Him Who it represents.
It comes from the Greek word “stauros” which means “cross” and phobia which of course is an irrational fear.
