House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman (R-Calif.) said Monday that he would press IRS Commissioner John Koskinen on whether he has been up front with Congress about the IRS targeting scandal.
We have some serious questions for the commissioner, the biggest one being, You came before us, you said youd tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth under oath, Issa said on Fox News Monday. Do you believe you told the whole truth?
And of course the answer is, he did not tell the whole truth.
Members of the House Ways & Means Committee already pressed Koskinen last week to explain why Congress wasnt alerted earlier when the IRS discovered more than two years worth of emails from Lois Lerner were lost. Koskinen replied that the IRS knew there was a problem in February, but that they wanted more time to figure it out.
On June 13, the IRS finally told Congress that the emails were missing, but did so in a few sentences buried in a 27-page memo. That led to a blistering hearing last week during which Ways & Means Committee Chairman (R-Mich.) asked for an apology Koskinen declined to give one.
It also led House Budget Committee Chairman (R-Wis.) to say flatly, I dont believe it.
Issa subpoenaed Koskinen to appear before his own committee today, and Koskinen has agreed to comply with that subpoena. Issas hearing starts at 7 p.m. Monday.
On Fox, Issa said he believes the missing emails are part of a coverup in which the government is trying to hide the fact that efforts were made at high levels to apply extra scrutiny to conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status at the IRS.
I believe Lois Lerner is hiding something, he said. I believe the Justice Department,

Did anyone else notice that when he takes the oath to tell the truth, it’s more like a Nazi salute...no bend in the arm.
Wouldn’t surprise me.
This is turning into the OJ trial
This is the type of question a Darrell Issa asks. Then, he accepts an equivocal answer. That is why this investigation is being blunted at every turn when it should be medieval by now.
the sworn IRS official, one rather long-in-the-tooth within gumint service circles, says:
"Congressmen, whatever your name is, I do not care for your tone. Your got something on me - PROVE IT. Otherwise, shut up, have another beer, and then take a nap.
It's a mystery why americans allow these "tick's" on their privates.. sucking the life out of them..
If this is the question that Issa asks then he is am enabler and part of the problem.
The question if he asks it should be: "Did you tell the whole truth??"
His "beliefs" in things like the computer fairy have nothing to do with this.
Yes I noticed. I have never seen a person take the oath with their hand at about waist level and straight out! I thought at the time he was not taking his oath seriously. Lets see how he does it tonight!
I hope Issa was hunkered down with some top IT pros this past weekend. Because the Repubs at the last hearing let so many opportunities slip by. They need to get up to speed on the technology and stop focusing on the hard drive.
I believe Koskinen thinks he is above the law. He always has a smile on his mug. And answers questions like it is beneath him to answer. I wish he would be taken down tonight, but for some reason Issa will let him escape a tar and feathering.
Democrats are LAW-Less because Republican "leaders" are BALL-LESS!!!
Issa's committees.....where all scandals go to die.
(Stern Voice): “Do you believe you told the truth?”
Oh, BOOM goes the dynamite. Knees quake. Bowels turn to water.
Hi, Congress? I know you think you’re really getting somewhere and doing something to restore the Republic, but actually, this is the way you speak to a kindergartener who denies swiping an extra fig newton.
Update: They are lying to Congress. Every single one of them. Under oath.
So what do brave, brave Issa and his colleagues do?
Run to the media. Every. Freaking. Time. And say, “They’re lying! They’re such big fat lying liars! Can you believe this?! They’re LYING!
Yes, we all get it. NOW IT’S YOUR MOVE. The media hates you, you half-wits. They’re not going to do your jobs for you. And they’re not going to support your doing your jobs.
I’m not going to click on one more of these stories unless there’s some indication in the headline that you actually did something about it. Like arrest them and throw them in jail. Which is exactly what would happen to me if I lied under oath.
“Oh, you sound like a Tea Party extremist. We don’t want to be allied with them! No one will like us! The New York Times will say snarky things about our comb-overs and where we went to college!”
You impotent, stupid, feckless cowards.
“Issa is a SLUG if he asks...”Do you BELIEVE you told the truth”!! PROFESSIONAL LIARS DO BELIEVE what they say is true!!”
EXACTly my point. Exactly. Asking the question in this way creates the opportunity for the bifurcated answer, either of which leads nowhere. He has been doing this for well over a year and it is an egregious error. What difference does it make (thank you, Ms. Clinton) if Koskinen BELIEVES he told the truth? If he does believe it then Issa just gave him a way to escape perjury. If he DOES NOT believe he told the truth, that isn’t even coherent as a sentence. There would never be a reason for someone to confess to that. But nevertheless and alwaysthemore, blithering undirected nonsense gets spewed, some other idiot will thank him for his many years of service, then ask some other question on yet another irrelevant aimless point and the circus just goes on and on.
Issa is blowing it. This is not “maybe”. He is provably asking questions which erode his credibility and anyone who thinks that the $1000/hour lawyers on the other side (and I guarantee we are paying for them) do not see this and work to deepen it, is quite naive.
I assume this is a rhetorical question..., right?
"Truth" and "Obama Administration" in the same staement or question represent a Non-Sequitur!!!
issa needs help from trey gowdy...
He gave the IRS Commissioner 15 IT questions to answer before tonight.
he asks this question and the answer will be yes or im taking the 5th....he doesn’t really expect the commish to admit to perjury does he?
Koskinen wasn’t even at the IRS when all the bad stuff went down, right? Is it by design the RINOs are questioning someone who can’t be blamed for any wrongdoing because he wasn’t there at that time, hmmmmm?
