OK, OK. To the Bush family, and particularly to former two-term Florida Gov. Jeb Bush: Don't worry. Let me start, up front, by saying: I would never vote for Jeb Bush for president. He is way too conservative for me.
Now that that's over with, I think Bush is a really good guy -- a good person, good father, good husband, good brother (to my Yale College friend, two-term President George W. Bush) and good son to his great, great dad, former President George H.W. Bush.
Jeb Bush's positions on two issues, in my view, make him formidable against a Democratic presidential candidate in 2016: education reform and immigration policy.

He looks like a fathead who lives in his mom’s basement and has an over-familiarity with obscure Star Wars characters.
Thanks, I needed a good laugh.
Looks like he might have a `lazy eye’ too. My daughter needed surgery for that.
The GOP-e keeps launching their Jeb trial balloon and he never ever really gets off the ground, does he?
In his defense—I carried a briefcase in the 9th grade, mixed stripes and plaids and wore “birth-control” horn rim glasses as well as `high-water’ Dad `n Lad pegged pants.
I am 100% behind Cruz. I think Palin is in a good spot right now, but I would support her for any position she chose.
I am somewhere between a conservative and a libertarian. I want the federal government cut down to the bare minimum and let the states run their own states. I want to change the senators and congressmen into part time citizen legislators with the emphasis on citizen not legislator.
I am for the most competent representatives and administrators and I don't care about their religion or color.
The constitution of the US was written in 1790 when our population was less than four million people. Everything has become much more complicated with over 300 million.
The government is too big and has become ungovernable, even by qualified and honest people if we could elect some.
I believe a constitutional convention is necessary if the citizens are going to be able to get a handle on this runaway monstrosity called the federal government.
Jeb Bush?
The American population cannot forbear
another familial of a dynastic background,
whether that be in a suit, or a skirt.
The nation needs a strong business leader,
not a number three son, not a mentally
challenged wife, nor some politician,
‘because it’s their turn’, and
DEFINITELY neither Communist nor Socialist.

Jeb Bush murdered Terri Schiavo.
Music to my ears! {^) You and me both, fellow FReeper!
I used to vote for the Republican-no-matter-what. For 30 years I did that, and the Republican party kept moving so far left that in 2012, in order to vote Republican, I was required to vote for a candidate whose entire political career embodied everything I've been voting Republican all these years to prevent!
My vote in the primaries regarding the presidential choice is moot, as I'm in California. The party's primary outcome is decided long before voting time ever gets to me. I vote in the primaries for liberal Republicans to lose. NOW I will also vote in the generals such that they lose, as well. It is the ONLY way to hold the Republican party right.
And frankly, I am ready to move on from the Republican party if the opportunity presents itself. I think its day is done.
!!!!!
Nailed it! {^)
Hey .. I still mix stripes and plaids! And florals, for that matter!
Business? Finance? Managerial skills?
The nation needs a strong LEADER wise enough to leave business to businessmen. IMO.
Well said!
That’s why I wrote it that way.
Free Enterprise means just that.
We need a leader with the political skills to uphold and defend Free Enterprise so that businessmen -- that would be, people who aren't the president, those entrepreneurs and business folks who make this country work -- can engage in that free enterprise you're talking about.
When people make the mistake of looking for a "strong business leader" to act as President of the USA, they make the mistake of treating government like a business, and that is a BAD mistake. Government is ONLY what George Washington said it is: a FORCE, "a dangerous servant and a fearful master."
A business is something entirely different -- a business produces something useful to others. A "strong business leader" has ONE GOAL, and that is to marshal resources and assets (that would be taxpayers and government agencies) to produce the most "product" in the most efficient manner possible. RIGHT RIGHT RIGHT for commercial and business enterprise, WRONG WRONG WRONG when applied to government.
I want a strong leader who is more concerned about reducing government and restoring freedom, than he is about applying business strategies to governing Americans.
...it becomes a matter of pride that they cannot believe that they were lied to ...
Yes, exactly, you describe it so well! There are several FReepers here who actually argue that a vote has three properties -- 0, +1, and -1. There are FReepers on here who believe the lie, and will argue that lie, that if you stayed at home your vote was MATHEMATICALLY "for Obama," or that if you voted for a third party, your vote was MATHEMATICALLY "for Obama." In 2012, there were people on here posting ludicrous formulas lamely attempting to prove some imaginary mathematical property of a vote.
The vote IS binary. It IS like a light switch. A vote is ONLY EVER the equivalent of turning a light on. PERIOD. If you stay at home, you chose to leave the light switch off on ALL candidates; if you go to the polls and vote, you choose to turn the light switch ON only for the specific candidates who get your vote. Voting "against" is totally, one hundred percent imaginary. Yet there are so many who proudly believe the LIE that they can vote "against."
A vote is either 0, or +1. I engaged in the folly of voting "against" for about the past 30 years, and I accept accountability for my part in voting TO turn the Republican party hard left. I will start voting to turn things RIGHT.
Right.
And two plus two equals five, for larger values of two.
It's Coast to Coast, with Art Bell.
