In a recent interview with the Daily Beast that focused on the bigotry and xenophobia of Americans who are opposed to amnesty for illegal immigrants, Boston archbishop Cardinal Sean OMalley said, Obviously, the fear is not rational, and I think we are dealing with it in an irrational way.
The Daily Beasts Christopher Dickey lead up to his discussion with OMalley about the thousands of illegal immigrant minors flooding the United States following President Obamas decision to relax their deportations:
The fear and hatred of foreigners is nothing new in the United States, nation of immigrants though it is. OMalley said hed been reading up on the Know-Nothings of the 19th century who wanted to limit severely the immigration of Catholics, require them to wait 21 years for naturalization, and allow only Protestants to teach in public schools.
There is a reason there are few stained-glass windows in the Philadelphia cathedral, he said: Because they knew they would be broken with bricks. (Indeed, the building was designed during Know-Nothing violence in the 1840s with no windows at all at street level).
Dickey reports OMalley told him that, in the 20th century, the same sort of xenophobia was turned against immigrants from Latin America and Asia, with the added factor of racism.
The path to citizenship for illegal immigrants, OMalley said, is absolutely essential....

The reason we have 11 million undocumented workers here is because we need them, said OMalley.
Peculiar how he uses a decade old number of illegal aliens...when it is known the true number is over 20 million.
Peculiar how he doesn’t conflate the issues of abortion, euthanasia, infanticide and an apathetic work ethic among the entitlement welfare loafers as the reason we may have the “need” for the illegal aliens. Of course, he is from communist Massachusetts, though, where the dubious untruths will never be questioned.
When has anyone here ever thought that a “government produced” estimate of anything being controlled. History has shown us that government is ALWAYS off by a factor of at least two - and many times, much much more than that.
My guess is there are at least 30-50 million of those criminals here.
“If the Cardinal were to say what sort of politician should be voted for, without even having to name names, a lot of the Latinos would vote for that politician. Even if only ten percent of the estimated 12 million amnestied illegals were to respond, although I think the number would be higher, thats over a million concentrated votes.”
The fact that Dems safely carry “Catolic” areas makes this terrifying; with few exceptions, the American Catholic hierarchy won’t direct voters to issues that are central to Church teaching (protecting the family, representing Catholic schools, etc.).
“Many Latinos are faithful Catholics.”
I doubt the Church leadership echoes that sentiment; I don’t see them supporting parishes financially. In my limited experience (here in North Ecuador, NJ), they are “Catholic” as long as their children receive Catholic educations at deep discounts (subsidized by the dwindling population of aging whites). Once the school closes or children graduate, they go back to being leftist deists...
There they made the sacrifice and lived in 3rd world conditions among those they sought to save.
But not now! Christian clergy no longer put themselves through no such hardship and sacrifice - instead they import the 3rd World and 3rd World conditions here to the US - so they can remain in their ivory-towers and preach to the Americans they are forcing to live in US neighborhoods deteriorating to 3rd World conditions.
Instead, they advocate that the “xenophobic” every day Americans face the hardships and make the sacrifice.
I am sorry you left. I too disagree with the “social justice” crowd in the Church; however, when you leave the fight you have conceded defeat. You are part of the Church and your input is invaluable.
So if your wife was not born in this country, and is against illegal immigration, is she “hateful and fearful against foriegners” too?
How do you explain it when legal immigrants take a stand against illegal immigration? How do you explain with “HATE” when a legal immigrant (who btw still has issues speaking English without an accent) gets angry because she can’t understand the jibberish illegals working at McDonalds speak?
...America full of freeloading, low information DemocRAT voters who cant speak English would be the end of freedom and what was once the greatest country on the planet.

That is the plan, comrade.
Naturalized US citizens are some of the most patriotic Americans you can find. Followed closely by 1st generation Americans.
Hey Cardinals, Bishops and Priests!
Why aren’t you telling the faithful that all RATs and most RINOs are faggot-loving baby-killers?
“I hope you haven’t given up on Christianity altogether.”
No, I haven’t. I still believe in God and Jesus.
It’s His human representatives here on Earth that I find disappointing.
Do you lack reading comprehension?
The Catholic higher ups want amnesty because without their illegals there are many parishes in this country that would be absolutely empty without them.
I know that in my city they would. We have 3-4 parishes that are nothing but latinos. My sister in law worked at one for many years.
Not exactly an organization that I'm listening to when they start spouting their social policies..
Who effectively ruled the known world during the Middle Ages?
Maybe they’re a bit nostalgic for a bygone era?
“Right, those new citizens will vote for the very politicians that will persecute the Catholic Church and all the other Christians.”
You are correct on that point. But the Catholic Church hierachy doesn’t quite view it that way.
They look at many of these new immigrants (especially the Hispanics) as potential new parishioners - new parishioners who’ll put money in the collection box every week and will help justify the continued budgetary existence of groups like Catholic Charities.
The Catholic Churhc heirarchy isn’t thinking about this is any terms of what this influx of immigrants will do to this nationa, culturally and economically.
If you look at most any Catholic Church that has a “social justice” committee, I think that’s it’s not too far of a reach that most of them are Democrat voters or at the max, are Democrat activists.
I’ve seen that particularly in the Catholic churches in the first ring suburbs of Minneapolis and St Paul. The Catholic Church is just a vehicle for the spreading of these individual’s socialistic political values.

In my area it is the same; as white people die off they are replaced by Hispanics and Filipinos. Many of the Hispanics in my area are “unchurched”; they won’t keep parishes open. We’ve gone from closing schools to closing parishes at this point.
It would be nice to see the Church address something like the blatant unfairness of affirmative action, but I’m not holding my breath. In the meantime, let the “replacement Americans” for whom they advocate subsidize them.

How long before they realize that isn’t happening? Here in NJ they’ve been here for decades without contributing much to churches (or forming their own). Just as these Hispanics aren’t coming here to fund the retirements of old white people, they aren’t coming here to provide for the upkeep of a clerical class either. They want the schooling, but that’s it.
Must be a Jesuit, who backs the New World Order PLans
