First Lady Michelle Obama reminded attendees of a naturalization ceremony Wednesday that the Founding Fathers werent born in America.
The ceremony for 50 new U.S. citizens was held at the National Archives in Washington, D.C.
Its amazing that just a few feet from here where Im standing are the signatures of the 56 Founders who put their names on a Declaration that changed the course of history, she said during her speech, referring to the Declaration of Independence. And like the 50 of you, none of them were born American they became American.
Obama pointed out that the Founding Fathers pledged their lives and risked everything to create the United States of America after signing the Declaration of Independence.
Just like youre about to pledge allegiance to our flag, they pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor to this extraordinary idea that we now know as America the notion that we are all created equal, endowed with fundamental rights and freedoms that no one can ever take away from us, she said.
The First Lady explained that the Founding Fathers were Americans-by-choice just like the newly declared citizens.
As the newest 'Americans-by-choice,' you, too, will play an important part in shaping our history, she continued.

What a total dummy. She doesn't realize that the states existed BEFORE the Constitution.
Kids have to be rolling on the floor.
The United States did not exist but they were still Americans.
Actually Michelle's incompetence may be because of the “poor nutrition” she had until she planted the White House garden.
Alexander Hamilton didn’t sign the Declaration of Independence.
If so, send the First Wookie a case of them. She needs every single one. It will be impossible for her to overdose on them.
LMAO great post.
Yesterday it was reported that she plans to do a Hillary and run for Senate from Illinois in 2016.
I would sooner be ruled by Kelly Bundy than this piece ‘o crap
None of the were born American.
Neither was her husband.
s/someone had to say it...
good one!
Hey Mooch, your husband wasn’t born American, and he STILL isn’t one!
It was inelegantly phrased, but I’m pretty sure she was referring to the country, not the continent.
This is what Princeton and Harvard Law are producing now ?
No it was a really stupid comment.
What she was trying to do was equate the founding Fathers with illegal aliens. Even if she had used the term correctly, her reasoning was way off.
The objections raised so far in this thread have nothing to do with the comparison. Yours is the first.
flotus fail
Her comments were about immigrants and she was clearly saying the founding Fathers were also immigrants.
The vast majority of them were born here. It was a stupid comment.
That was because it was so obvious it didn’t need mentioning. Until you failed to see it.
LOLOLOL! Good riposte!
Consider the source.
The first lady has the INTELLECT of an IDIOT.
