What if they had put a timer on your radio and TV say 40 years ago and sent you a bill for 5 bucks for every hour over 10 hours of watched TV and listened to radio per month?

Question...I’m still on dial-up, so I don’t understand this stuff...what constitutes usage?
I understand that if I download a 1.0 GB movie then I used 1.0 GB towards my limit.
But what if I get online on day one and do nothing but look at FreeRepublic for 24 hours a day....does this count toward my usage? And, if so, at what rate am I using my GBs ??

They know they can get away with for a while at least.

Any online activity uses bandwidth. Depending on the thread on FR, just text posts on FR won’t use very much bandwidth. But posts with video and pics on it will up your bandwidth usage.

But not the useless data coming from its MSNBC property.

On the bright side...Means I can’t be on the net longer than a few hours....which means I’ll have to go wandering around outside looking at people and things in real time.

How many GB's are in one average length streamed movie?
Thanks.

"But what if I get online on day one and do nothing but look" Yes that counts towards your total. Go to some site that pops up adds or plays a video you did not want to see and it stills counts as bandwidth used. Basically any data sent to your ip address contributes to your total usage. Junk mail (if you have your own mail client), junk ads on sites you visit, etc. It all counts.

Better quality (up to 0.7 GB per hour)
Best quality (up to 1 GB per hour, or up to 2.3 GB per hour for HD)

How much data did the bitmeter download use up?
To: Gen.Blather
Any time you click on a link it is a download. FR isn’t bad because it is mostly text. You really get into heavy downloads if you watch a lot of videos or have Netflix.

P.S. Not all clicks are equal. Your computer caches a lot of the graphics and just accesses the previously downloaded graphics the next time you go to that page.

LOL I don’t know. but it looks to me like 300GB is considerable internet usage for a typical at home user.
