HOUSTON, TexasGovernor Rick Perry (R-TX) appeared on Fox News Fox and Friends show and said Texas lacks the resources and manpower to secure the 1,200 mile Texas border with Mexico.
The comment sent shock waves through a Texas grassroots discussion thread on Facebook this morning of activists who are seeking a special session call from the Governor to deal with the issue of border security.

Oh!!! I’m sorry. I misunderstood. Well in that case: Good Job!
Texas is rolling in oil money.
Perrys story is not credible.
My question to you is why should Texas bear the cost of covering a well defined Federal task?
Securing and maintaining the borders is a Federal thing, not a State issue. Since Perry is a huge advocate of the 10th Amendment, it would be hypocritical of him to attempt to reverse the 10th in this case, apart from being ruinous to one of the few economic powerhouses the USA has left.
Sure - the border has to be closed. Instead of putting up illegals in facilities in airbases, shove them in a transport and take them home. Personally, I’d chip them or tattoo them with IR ink first so if they tried again they could simply be shot.
But closing the border is not the job of the border states. Illegals affect everyone.
He’s a fraud. And anyone that defends him is no better than he is.
At one time for each, so was Ronald Reagan. Just sayin'.
Yes. Which means Perry is full of it since he’s C-in-C of the State Guard and it cannot be nationalized. He could order the State Guard to the border immediately.
Governor Goodhair is a populist who became a crony capitalist. Remember he was a Democrat who was state chairman of Al Gore’s 1988 presidential campaign.
Interesting how politicians show their true colors from time to time.
“Rick Perry: ‘We Don’T Have The Resources’ To Secure Texas Border”
And there were some people ON THIS SITE that actually supported this IDIOT.
But, but, the Texans on FR always brag about how it would only take one Texas Ranger to handle it.
Its no wonder that the issue of TX sovereignty is going nowhere. If the people of TX are going to elect lackeys like this, then its a nonissue.
Might as well change the flags outside the Alamo. The rainbow flag is more modern, while the white flag is more traditional.
Soon our Open border will permit Jihadists to enter disguised as South Americans.
The Texas Militia needs to be called up.
Stop giving away free stuff, and stop the practice of conferring citizenship to anchor babies, and the problem of policing the border will almost solve itself.
Might I suggest pulling SOME of the money from the subsidies that undocumented immigrants get for tuition and healthcare in the state??
On your best day, just how in the H will they get that across the desk of Reid and Obama? Instead, have them do like they are in trying to find any news outlet that will broadcast their indignation about the laws not being enforced.
If we just enforced penalties against the hiring of illegals and took away all benefits we would not need to secure the border. The incentive to come and stay would disappear.
“””””
Anyone with a sliver of common sense knows this is the easy answer. However, if this was the course set upon, the value of U.S. Citizenship would once again be something to be proud of, and this will never happen with the Kenyan maggot and his gang of criminals holding power.
Look to Milton (Open borders and the welfare state)
A decade ago, Nobel prize-winning economist Milton Friedman admonished the Wall Street Journal for its idée fixe on open-border immigration policy. “It’s just obvious you can’t have free immigration and a welfare state,” he warned. This remark adds insight to the current debate over immigration in the U.S. Senate.
...There is a rough one-to-one fiscal balance between low-skill immigrant families and upper-middle-class families. It takes the entire net tax payments (taxes paid minus benefits received) of one college-educated family to pay for the net benefits received by one low-skill immigrant family. Even Julian Simon, the godfather of open-border advocates, acknowledged that imposing such a burden on taxpayers was unreasonable, stating, “immigrants who would be a direct economic burden upon citizens through the public coffers should have no claim to be admitted” into the nation.
...While most open-border libertarians proclaim a desire to dismantle both borders and the welfare state, in practice what they offer is open borders today and a vague (and almost certainly illusory) promise to end the welfare state in the indefinite future. As Milton Friedman understood, open-border enthusiasts have the sequence wrong: Opening borders with the redistributionist state still intact will result in a larger and more confiscatory government. In response to libertarians who propose to open borders and dismantle the welfare state, practical conservatives should answer: “Go ahead. Dismantle the welfare state. As soon as you’ve got that finished, let us know, and then we’ll talk about open borders.”

In case anyone’s still in doubt as to the ultimate goal of the amnesty backers:
“Opening borders with the redistributionist state still intact will result in a larger and more confiscatory government.”
“Soon our Open border will permit Jihadists to enter disguised as South Americans.”
Soon my arche! They have been doing it for years now. Nice of you to wake up and join the others who are vigilant.
Yep, call for citizen volunteers. Declare a state of emergency and get us waivers from work. Kind of like jury duty, you know? You might be very surprised at the response!
That is if you are really interested in solving the problem. Are you? Rick? Rick....? Are you there?
I will bring my own guns and ammo. I can be on the border by the weekend. Just let me know.
Rick's a little busy right now conferring with the Chamber of Commerce, La Raza, and his group of crony capitalist cheap labor investors. He'll be with you shortly with another stirring speech....Meanwhile, as you wait, here's a favorite mariachi quartet medley of Rick's featuring David Dewhurst, John Cornyn, Robert Strauss and George Bush...
This after saying he isn’t going to run again. Knows he’ll lose and is going to scorch the land on his way out.
