According to nationally syndicated radio host and Chapman University law professor Hugh Hewitt, 118 Republicans in the House of Representatives have to show some backbone and elect Rep. Raul Labrador of Idaho as the new House majority leader, replacing defeated Virginia congressman Eric Cantor.
Hewitt thinks that the Puerto Rican son of a single mom who worked his way through school, served a two-year Mormon mission in the poorest parts of Chile, who has made his mark by defending property and protecting second amendment rights, has fought for oil and gas exploration, and is an adamant advocate for border security first, before regularization -- not citizenship could spearhead a monumental shift in Republican politics.
Although a long shot to defeat Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy from California, according to Hewitt in his column in the Washington Examiner, a Labrador victory in a House Republican secret election to be held on Thursday will inspire Speaker John Boehner to make a shift in the right direction.

Are you saying he is not a Democrat??? You the crap are you smoking and I might as well call YOU out as a RINO. Don’t let the door hit you on the way out, people like YOU are the reason the Republican party has turned limp/ Have fun voting for Romeny for the third time.
Karl Rove, is that you???
LOL!!
Bill Bennett WAS a Democrat until Reagan tapped him for his admin.......there is NO one who thinks Bill Bennett is a Democrat.....except you.
He’s a squishy RINO, I actually have his program on as my alarm clock every morning. I cringe at the RINOisms coming from him and his guests every morning. Pretty effective alarm.
OK...name two things he squishy on?? For crap sake, your WIFE doesn’t agree with you 100% of the time!!!
His, and others; too.
Does America REALLY 'need' another fella who cannot see the lies of Mormonism actually making big decisions that would affect the REST of us?
Bill Bennett endorses Mitch McConnell's Senate Re-election Bid
Read the comments of that thread. Bill Bennett has a problem with Tea Party conservatives such as Ted Cruz. THAT should tell you this guy is an establishment Republican which is a RINO. Wake the F up!!!
Bottom line is he FREQUENTLY has RINO guests on his program. If that isn't obvious then you clearly are a RINO yourself if you find THAT acceptable.
1 Timothy 4:12
Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.
Matthew 5:8
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
HELLO....so did Rand Paul!!! Is Rand a RINO??
Rand Paul is a RINO in my eyes now. So yes! Actions speak louder than words. He can talk like a conservative, but his actions aren’t of a conservative by supporting a RINO.
The politicians will only care about who will raise the most campaign money. (cantor was a pro-fundraiser)
The dc elites are so out of touch they do not calculate votes.
Let me guess you are a “lesser of two evils” kind of Republicant. Those days are over, at least for conservatives that want a fighting chance.
Can the purists put forth 2 names for a 2016 candidate that they can all agree on that is Conservative enough?
Don't get me wrong this Labrador guy looks scary and I fear putting in the wrong guy as well.
Who is there that meets the following requirements
1. 0 tolerance on amnesty or any legalization of illegal aliens.
2. 0 on tolerance on gay marriage and exposing the homosexual agenda to children in schools/ indoctrination of any kind
3. 100% restoring and upholding the 2nd Amendment.
4. Be it a flat tax fair tax or national sales tax the current system along with the IRS is scrapped and is replaced with a 1 time on your money tax.
5. Patriot Act spying on American citizens ends.
6. Disbanding of the militarized Federal police force.
7. 0 tolerance on abortion illegal in all circumstances and Constitutional protections begin at conception. (sorry this should really be 1 or 2).
8. Valid state issued photo id proving citizenship is required to vote.
9. Repeal Obamacare in its entirety.
10. Oil gas coal energy should be cheap and plentiful and man made global warming climate change blah blah is B.S. malarkey crap a hoax a lie a delusion.
Who is the purist that is 100% with us here? If I missed an issue I apologize but I am pretty sure our hands will be full finding 2 people we can trust with these 10 issues.
~~~served a two-year Mormon mission~~~
Well, that explains Hewitts fascination.
Funny but astute comment.
Hewitt was/is a huge backer of Romney. He has been and is pretty much a Romney team member.
He wrote a book making the case for Romney called “A Mormon in the White House”.
Hewitt isn’t Mormon, though.He’s a Country Club Catholic Republican from Cleveland. He switched to being Protestant.
He is as GOPe as they come.
“We have to get a moderate conservative like Labrador as a sop to the Tea Party so that we can avoid a real nut case like Tancredo who is totally wrong on immigration.”
Yeah. Last week he just kept talking about how crazy Tom Tancredo is and how Tancredo is going to ruin everything if we don’t stop him.
I’m not sure why Tancredo is a factor or why Hewitt is talking about him.
I have to wonder, tho, about putting into leadership a guy who’s name sounds like it came from one of those Internet “Porn Star Name Generators” ...
Ok, joking aside, Conservatives are showing the same old propensity to split their votes arguing over the details of acceptably Conservative candidates, allowing Moderates/GOPe candidates (like McCain, Romney, etc) to win.
Except in this case there’s only ONE “Conservative” candidate in the race. Yet Conservatives can’t coalesce in any sort of support of him.
So long as Conservatives continue to act so stupidly in things like this, we may not get the leadership we want, but we certainly do get the leadership we deserve.
See there!
We agree!
