A two-star U.S. Army general will begin investigating this week how and why Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl left his base in Afghanistan, resulting in his capture, a senior defense official said.
Bergdahl spent five years in captivity until his release May 31, in exchange for five Taliban figures being held at a U.S. military detention facility in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
Bergdahl, 28, returned to the United States -- specifically to an Army medical facility in San Antonio, Texas -- early Friday.
Though the investigation begins this week, it's not known when the sergeant will undergo formal questioning.
The senior defense official declined to name the general who will investigate until there is a formal announcement.

Geez. Maybe his feelings were hurt or something. Did his squad not let him play frisbee with them? I’m sure there must have been a good reason. Or he is simply a deserter.
Anything but deserter is a fraud investigation. If they don’t dishonorable discharge him then we have seriously lost the Nation. Jail???? I don’t know but he needs to pay for leaving the post.

It seems to me that if someone had left their base in a war zone without permission just ONCE they should’ve been punished, the brig or discharged. And a commander of a base with such lax security that someone could leave three times should’ve been punished as well.
What’s happened to our military?!
Here’s my prediction. He was “bullied” into leaving the base...

The fix is in. “He’s suffered enough!”
or he will say he’s a peter puffer and was picked on.....Everyone else will get courts martialed and this POS will get promoted.

Some thread a week or so ago said that the military investigated the guy in 2010 and they are keeping the report from the public.
