In an astonishing challenge to traditional Catholic doctrine, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, nominally Catholic, has taken to telling San Francisco Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone that he should not attend the National Organization for Marriages June 19 march on the Supreme Court in Washington D.C.
Cordileone is scheduled to be a featured speaker at the event, according to the San Francisco Chronicle, which is consistent with his championing of Proposition 8 in 2008. Cordileone helped raise $1.5 million for the initiative, which intended to ban same-sex marriage in the state. He once said, "The ultimate attack of the evil one is the attack on marriage."
Pelosi, who called the event venom masquerading as virtue," wrote to Cordileone, "We share our love of the Catholic faith and our city of San Francisco," adding that the event would feature some participants displaying "disdain and hate towards LGBT persons, and asserting, "If someone is gay and is searching for the Lord and has good will, then who am I to judge him?"
The March for Marriage, which was initiated last year, features thousands of people standing up for "traditional marriage" walking from the U.S Capitol to the Supreme Court. Among the speakers are Mike Huckabee and Rick Santorum

Interesting that they were posted within seconds of each other.
i saw it. :)
It’s going to be interesting to read the Bishop’s response.
When are we going to see some Church discipline for these pro-homosexual, pro-abortion, anti-Holy_Matrimony politicians. We know these politicians are only going to get worse.
***
I know what the response should be, but the Bishop would not be inclined to use it. I do hope that he gives her the what-for in some other way.
Pelosi is so brazen because the Catholic bishops haven’t disciplined her with ex-communication or other type of censure.
One could see this coming since the Catholic church does nothing when Democrat politicians advocate for abortion, divorce, homosexual marriage and unmarried fornication.
From what I have read so far, the Bishop is not at all shy. I don’t think he’ll bring back the bell, book, and candle — although he might want to.
Whatever it is, I am thinking Pelosi is going to get her ears pinned back severely.
I find it funny that they are the ones who want to change everything and yet it is us who are the cause of division and hatred. I doubt that there would be too many Catholics who hate gay people I am also positive that the reverse is not true - those who support gay marriage absolutely hate the Church and any Catholic that stands by their faith!
Will the Pope please officially excommunicate her??
What a vapid harpy.
Problem is that any kind of a formal censure, to include excommunication, is a legal process.
The only canons she could be really charged with is this:
Can. 1369 A person who in a public show or speech, in published writing, or in other uses of the instruments of social communication utters blasphemy, gravely injures good morals, expresses insults, or excites hatred or contempt against religion or the Church is to be punished with a just penalty.
Can. 1371 The following are to be punished with a just penalty:
1/ in addition to the case mentioned in ⇒ can. 1364, §1, a person who teaches a doctrine condemned by the Roman Pontiff or an ecumenical council or who obstinately rejects the doctrine mentioned in ⇒ can. 750, §2 or in ⇒ can. 752 and who does not retract after having been admonished by the Apostolic See or an ordinary;
2/ a person who otherwise does not obey a legitimate precept or prohibition of the Apostolic See, an ordinary, or a superior and who persists in disobedience after a warning.
Problem is that, for either of those canons, a ecclesiastical trial would be required. Frankly, such a thing would simply embolden her and transform her into a pop-culture martyr. Would such a thing have the effect of bringing her back to the Faith? Hardly.
Having said that, for the sake of other souls that would be confused by her dissimulation, I wish they'd do so. But there would be a HUGE backlash.
“If someone is gay and is searching for the Lord and has good will, then who am I to judge him?”
But to do so Pelosi, they would need to repent their sin as they will surely be judged by God...........
I'd have brought marshmallows.
“If someone is gay and is searching for the Lord and has good will, then who am I to judge him?”
Correct Nancy. Once they find the Lord, they must go and sin no more per Jesus Christ.
The hag should be ex-communicated forthwith for her stands on abortion, gay marriage and now an attack on freedom of speech and religion.
Excommunication, especially a jure, is either latæ or ferendæ sententiæ. The first is incurred as soon as the offence is committed and by reason of the offence itself (eo ipso) without intervention of any ecclesiastical judge; it is recognized in the terms used by the legislator, for instance: “the culprit will be excommunicated at once, by the fact itself [statim, ipso facto]”. The second is indeed foreseen by the law as a penalty, but is inflicted on the culprit only by a judicial sentence; in other words, the delinquent is rather threatened than visited with the penalty, and incurs it only when the judge has summoned him before his tribunal, declared him guilty, and punished him according to the terms of the law. It is recognized when the law contains these or similar words: “under pain of excommunication”; “the culprit will be excommunicated”. Catholic encyclopedia
Certainly a case can and should be made for latæ excommunication. Just as for the rest of the CINOs who PUBLICLY advocate grave sins, i.e. abortion,
Dealing with Pelosi, the Bishop should bring a crucifix and holy water.
