n the end, Osama bin Laden may achieve the goal that inspired the 9/11 attacks after all. And, strangely, one of the best ways to thwart that dream is for the United States to anger some of its friends and cooperate with its enemiesin particular, the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The successful march toward Baghdad by the Sunni fundamentalist group in IraqIslamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL)has been as inevitable as it is threatening to any prospects of peace in the Middle East. Now, the centuries-old tribal warfare between the two most prominent sects of IslamSunni and the Shiitehas been inflamed once again, with the fundamentalist group exposing the weakness and incompetence of what its followers see as just another impure government established by the West.

yep the barbarians are in the room
obama needs to resign now, this instant
With all the intelligence we have..and our intelligence people are good...how could the greatest superpower be “caught off guard?” And to free those 5 from Gitmo knowing whats going on in Iraq for the last year?
My brain is frozen. I can’t even wrap my head around this stuff anymore? I am just numb.
Yep.
I knew it when the 2002 election results were in. American voting habits changed almost not at all. Since then, it’s been whistling past the graveyard.
For all we know Osama bin Laden is leading the charge.
Where’s the body?
There’s precedent for intelligence incompetence. The fall of the Soviet Union was missed by our high-priced intelligence agencies.
Osama Bin Laden won when mosques were operating on September 12, 2001. America had lost the will to defend itself; the losses in Iraq and Afghanistan were just theater. Today the Third Worlders pour across our borders, and the heirs of the founders do nothing about it; they’ve been lulled into complacency with bread & circuses, food stamps, and marijuana. Now they devote their energies to pets and the causes du jour that have replaced the WASP ethic that built this country...
Agreed. Every satellite we have must be broken. We can’t see a train of terrorist trucks coming south through a desert or 100,000 toddlers walking north through Mexico apparently.

And in that part of the world he was the best we could ever hope for. We pretty much poked ourselves in the eye with all those purple fingers.
Obama is doing what Bin Laden could never pull off. Single handedly placing a nation state at al Qaeda’s feet.
In the Whitehouse.
“And in that part of the world he was the best we could ever hope for. We pretty much poked ourselves in the eye with all those purple fingers. “
Same with Qaddaffi and Assad. They were murdering dictators, but pikers compared to this bunch.
Probably the videos of that were “accidentally erased” like Lerner’s emails..”
I agree. Obama has made it clear to every Iraq war Vet that he does not respect their mission nor their sacrifice. As a Vietnam combat Vet who was shot twice I can relate. The very same man that sold out every Vietnam Vet to the VC during the Paris Peace talks (John Kerry), was appointed Sec of State not long ago. What is Obama doing today? He is f—ing off playing golf and Kerry is reading a poem in London to a women’s abuse group. What a bunch of leaders we have to represent us in the world., And Hagel who actually served in RVN as an Infantry squad leader is totally lost or in bed with Obama. I would never have believed I would live 67 years only to see the USA so messed up.
Please file under “Things That Make You Go, Hmmmm...
In 2008, America said: “I’m really busy right now trying to work in live. You take care of everything else.
I don’t want details, I don’t care how you do it...I want closure.”
Come to think of it, isn’t that the current mantra of corporate America?
